Burnsville definitely has the ability of coming out and winning that first game against East and Edina definitely has the chance of knocking off Tonka as well in the semis. Both Burnsville and Edina have had very strong schedules to start the year and are used to the intense competition already. Should be a very interesting Monday and Tuesday to see who can make it all the way.
I honestly don't think Burnsville has a shot at beating Duluth East. I have watched them play 3 times this year, and they are way too inconsistent- defensively, goaltending, and scoring. They are capable of staying with DE for 1, maybe 2 periods, and that's it. No knock on the Blaze, they are a very good team, probably somewhere ranked 8-10 in the state.
Edina on the other hand does have a chance with Minnetonka. I am not convinced that Minnetonka's goalies have been truly tested, yet.

Like it or not, but the team who goes 0-3 has always been booted (down to the lower bracket, but some have simply quit after that) and the team going 3-0 in lower brackets moves up the next year.
Following those guidelines, Holy Angels went 3-0 in Silver last year and Breck went 0-3 in Gold last year. AHA graduating all that made them competitive last year or Breck graduating next to no one was not a factor. Do not fret, both should be back next year to the bracket they were in last year.
That being said, WBL went 1-2 in Gold and did not come back, Burnsville got 6th going 1-2 in Silver (1-1-1 officially) and got bumped up, and CDH got 2nd in Silver (losing to AHA in the final) last year and are in Bronze this year.
So, it seems other factors are used to determine divisions, which makes it confusing why a conversation wouldn't be had with these coaches. If it were me, I'd prefer to be in Bronze and have a good chance of going 3-0 instead of going in with the thought of probably going 0-3 in Gold.
Just my two cents.

Agreed. In no way am I a "loyal supporter" of AHA but I really don't think its because of the seniors graduating that make them not competitive. That team took a harder hit than anyone I know of as far as unexpected transfers.

Thanks for the ticket info. A little spendy for a high school game but some of these should be worth it.

Remember it is a day pass, 4 games. That is $3 a game!! But there is also parking...unless your kids live two blocks away....Like mine.

After watching the STA vs AHA game, i can say that AHA would be lucky to win a game even if it was in the SILVER division

Trevor Olson with the Hat Trick. DE gonna be very difficult to beat. Early to say, but could this be one of their best teams ever under Randolph?

Definitely one of the best. I think it is THE best team Randolph has coached, but too many dudes on this site will be screaming that we are not even halfway through the season yet to make that claim.

Better than DE 95 (State Champs), 96 (Should have won), 97 (Should have won-many say the best DE team ever), and 98 (State champs)?

How many of you that are hailing this East team as the best ever watched the game? Burnsville was outshot 3:1 after a pretty even first period and was up 1-0. Shots were pretty even in the second, as was the play and it ended 1-1. The Blaze scored first in the third and the Hounds were only leading in the whole game for a total of 46 SECONDS.
Two very good teams played today and East came out on top. They are a very good team and I wouldn't be surprised if they won the next couple, or even if they won more than 27 games this year. But to crown them the best in East's history is ludicrous after having 2 quality opponents thus far this year.
East has an amazing history (never had a losing season).
Very good team, I'm looking forward to the game at 5:30 tomorrow, but Minnetonka beat Burnsville better than East did; we have to see more to get a better picture...in my opinion.
Let the hate begin

This team is a combo of the 95 (number of superstars) and 98 (scoring depth) teams. But this team passes better than any of the teams you mentioned.

Burnsville's goalie REALLY kept them in the game, but the Blaze couldn't put together 3 good periods of hockey. DE is the best overall team in the state, they showed that today. Their PP is something else, just unbelievable.
After watching Minnetonka for the 3rd time this year, I'd still give the edge to DE, based on their balance of offense, defense, and goaltending.
I will be watching tomorrow's games very closely -- based on the current Edina score, it might be a Minnetonka vs Edina semi-final. That is a game that no one should miss!
