Bluewhitefan wrote:Emphasis on Extreme! Dornbach is a nice player, but to put him in the national camp discussion is crazy. There are a number of players that are not in the discussion that play the whole ice. Dornbach played around his stature - and got away with it, but until he leanrs to take a hit, he'll just be a pretty stick-handler. Zuhlsdorf was the 2nd best 97 defenseman in Edina this year - and the best one didn't even make the festival.Napalm187 wrote:Am I in an extreme minority in thinking that Dornbach actually deserves to be there? No mention of Zuhlsdorf?
Congratulations to all the kids that made the team. As always there very good players that dont get selected. The selection of the Edina boy puts a black mark on the entire selection process. Over the years it is said that Select 15's is very political. I guess when you volunteer your time as an Edina coach this is your paycheck.bender1 wrote:Forwards

buttend is right on. This kid was borderline coming out of D6, let alone the National team. MN Hockey has truly outdone themselves with this one. Over Bump??? I watched a few sessions up there and in my mind it wasn't even a close call. Lots of calling for the puck out in the neutral zone while his linemates did the work. I've said before, nice player, but top 20 in the state??? Sorry, but NO.buttend wrote:Congratulations to all the kids that made the team. As always there very good players that dont get selected. Just a clarification, this is not a "team", but individual players are selected and mixed amongst players from others USA Hockey districts to form "teams". Congrats to the players that were selected.buttend wrote:Congratulations to all the kids that made the team. As always there very good players that dont get selected. Exactly.sorno82 wrote:Whether you think a kid legitimately made it or not, there is no need to drag his name through the dirt. They are only 14/15, not sure it is fair to the kid. If you have an issue with the parent or minnhock- talk to them personally. Leave the kid out of it.
Good Ole boy club has infiltrated the Advanced program. This was the last stronghold.. Your post sums it up best.hockeyoldtimer wrote:Sorno and out of town,
Those are all great sentiments and life lessons for our kids about life not being fair. No one wants to pick on the one boy but how about all the boys who are alternates or didn't make it because they don't live in Wayzata or Edina or go to a school Minnesota Hockey frowns on. No one wants to say it, but we all know it's true. Yes let's be happy for the ones who made it but we should also be sad for the ones who truly deserved to go.
If Minnesota sent a "team" of truly our best, it would be amazing.
Sweet, very touching, altough not true. There are some players that will never get the shot because of being from a smaller association or lack of name recognition. How many players were from D3 and D6? I think it was pretty lopsided. "Hungrier, work hard, positive attitude", sometimes thats just not enough. I would like to tell the the kids that outperformed kids on this list that the future does look bright though. No, you wont get picked for 16s or 17s. Soon there will be coaches that look for talent because there job depends on it. Ask yourself this, if these evaluators had to pick a team that could compete against the rest of the USA or Canada and their jobs depended on it would you see the same list??? Of course not. Some kids do deserve to be on the list, some do not........life isnt fair, this won't be the first or the last time. This is the real lesson.BigBear wrote:It is an agonizing process, picking the top players to represent MN at any age level, lets not forget that. It is not an exact science, but these folks know what they are doing. It is my hope that a player not selected will be HUNGRIER and continue to train, work hard, and keep a positive attitude.
The one who is cut could be our strongest player to represent MN and beyond in the near future.
One boy took how many people's places?hockeyoldtimer wrote:Sorno and out of town,
