Green has lost it as her team went down in flames. As I watched the game unfold, I wondered if they might regret having the parent coach vs. a 3rd party interim coach. It seemed like the star of the team didn't have a lot of faith in her teammates.

I didn't identify a "star" in the games I've caught this year? And why would they have an "interim" coach at this point of the year??

They had an interim coach all year. He is the star player's dad. I thimk she is a D1 commit.

Yes, Taylor Williamson. She's going to Minnesota, her dad was the coach.

Smolinski suffered a serious hockey injury before the season began and could not coach this year (but will be back next year) so Dean Williamson took the reins for a season. His daughter, Taylor, is the star and on most all-metro teams as well as on USA national teams for her age group.

Of course I know her! I thought we were talking about the 14s, sorry.

Taylor's good enough to have my daughter's respect. High praise from an EP player. I think I saw Smolinski at all three Edina/EP games though I don't know how much a role she played. It will be good having her back as head coach. Everyone I know thinks highly of her.
Edina should have won the section championship game. They played very well and EP was a little off. EP's goalie kept them in the game until Edina ran out of steam in the third period, and then it was all over. It was one of the best goalie performances I've seen and astounding for an 8th grader.
Saying Edina's program has a flaw because they aren't "getting it done" at the HS level is a load of hooey. I wasn't familiar with the program the first 10 years of the girl's HS hockey tournament, but these last 10 they regularly attend the state tournament and are either 1 or 2 in their section. If that's not "getting it done" your expectations are unrealistic.

I came on this site because I really didn't believe that adults would spend time blogging about Edina girls hockey. I left a couple of joke posts in early Dec. Then someone tells me that it's still going strong - so I came in the other day and left a few more jokes. This will be the last post I leave.
All of you who spend time on this thread - please stop. Get a freaking life. You're adults that are blogging about girls hockey, and more specifically Edina girls hockey as if anyone gives a sh*t what you think. Not the state of girls hockey, or the safety of girls hockey, participation rates, refereeing, etc. No - you spend time discussing Edina girls hockey. Bitter, jealous, spiteful comments.
I posted here originally as a joke. Then I see someone that calls himself TheMayor (really? you call yourself "the Mayor?") - discuss the "star player" at EHS. That "star player" couldn't be a nicer more hard working kid. You couldn't draw up a better kid. Your half-assed comments show your ignorance of not only the EHS situation, but hockey in general. Your taking pleasure in kids losing is beneath contempt.
All of you - peterthepuck, nervertoomuchhockey (how about nevertoomuchpaxil?), TheMayor (see: Douch*Bag) - go devote your time to something important and add some fuc*ing value somewhere in the world. You couldn't be a bigger bunch of losers.
Sorry I ever looked at this mess.

greenhockeymom wrote:Wow - do you really believe that when your kids come off of the ice, after having lost, and tell you that the Edina girls are nasty, that it's true? Believe me when I tell you that we hear the same thing. Swears and completely inappropriate remarks are commonplace. The worst part, is that we know it comes from the parents. The parents care way more then the kids and routinely make stuff up, while secretly harboring the desire that their own kids were just as good....
Sorry Green - I call BS on your last post. You were joking huh? Posts like this one don't really feel like a joke. I never said anything negative about TW - simply that she didn't seem to trust her linemates - something true of a lot of teams that have one player better than the rest. This was clearly evidenced in the 4-0 loss to EP, where she missed some opportunities to find linemates open. You've lost it. Obviously, you don't know anything about hockey if you don't recognize the nickname TheMayor. Sorry your team lost and you can't deal with it. Maybe you need to get a life. We'll miss your "jokes."

Really Green, are you always this classless with a "K" sphewing venom with vulgar language. I am sure it was one big joke until your poor teams started to lose and from your post and choice of words you represent the community proud. Are you going to make her start to shoot pucks now, getting those 5K reps in before the season. Because you are the epitome of hard work and practice. You are exactly what your community represents with your smug attitude around the rink and the norm versus the exception. Good luck in State today with all that hard work and practice, I forgot, you did not make it. You Loser

Sounds like someone is a little jealous of the Edina Girls Hockey Program.

Perspective - true understanding of the relative importance of things; a sense of proportion.
These are kids, we could all do well to remember it.
