The fault lies with their coach.

See if he can fix it between periods.

My favorite is that the horn goes off after every Duluth East goal.

We'll Elk fans/parents....on the positive side your coach Gordy will get back in plenty time for his alumni game. Unreal....

lol Nice game plan, Gordy. Think he's headed to TCF after the first? That's 5 in a row, a half a decade of Duluth East ousting the mighty Elk in the playoffs. This is starting to look comparable to the Hill-Murray/WBL series. Though even the Bears won a playoff game vs The Hill recently. How many years was Gordy behind the bench in these losses, 3 or 4? I think Sarsland was there for one, as well as a loss or two to Grand Rapids before that. That move back into 7AA has been disasterous for The River.

Will the horn go off for Elk River? Oh, I guess you have to score for that to happen👂

Elk River gets a much needed goal and East answers quickly. The Hounds are really dialed in.

Duluth East did exactly what they needed to do get up in the first. And hold on

Which was score 4 goals before the other team even had a shot on goal. Gordy was thinking the opposite, don't shoot the puck until the other team has at least 4 goals.

I'm noticing the Elks scored a couple of their goals midway through the 3rd period with their goalie pulled. Can anyone who was at the game confirm if Gordy was using the same strategy in the first period, 6 on 5 with no goalie?

 Might've been a better idea than what they did. Yeah, the Hounds put those nerves to rest with an awfully impressive first period. Utter demolition, with the first goal 37 seconds in off the faceoff, two very pretty ones for the 2nd and 3rd goals, and a very ugly one for the 4th right after the 3rd. After that, the Elks settled in some, but East went in to cruise control after responding to the first Elk goal. It got somewhat interesting near the end--though the 3rd ER goal was a mile offsides, as shown by the Amsoil video board--but a late too many men penalty ruined any shot at a comeback.

Credit the Hounds for rising to the occasion in the playoffs yet again. Thursday is going to be a war. As for ER...yikes. That's 7 times in 8 years their season has ended against the Hounds. Other than the past two, they haven't been close.

Thursday is going to be a war.

You think it will be that mild? :)

All jokes aside, not to bad for a couple teams who were taking up most of the disappointing and overrated threads.

I am making it over for that one. No matter the outcome, it should be another barn burner.

Karl/Lee or anyone that was really watching east

Peterson looked good... WHen he was actually playing.. He seemed to have limped off around mid way thru the game, and i don't remember seeing him for at least the last 1/2 of the game.. Any one else see him on the ice in the 2nd 1/2 of the game?

It was a cross checking penalty in front of the net, not to many men. The whistle and subsequent center ice face off prior to that was for player leaving the bench to early when pulling the goalie. Hounds no doubt outplayed the Elks in the first and played well but Elks were also not moving their feet, couldn't catch a pass, and terrible in D zone. Worst period of hockey the Elks played all season. Second goal pretty? It went off the back of the goalies skate right to hound who was crashing the net (uncovered). 3rd goal was a nice individual play as hound F beat Elk D around the corner cut back to the front of the net and buried it. From my vantage point there was one "nice" goal. Not that it really matters as no matter how they go in, it was still 6-3 and Hounds outplayed Elks to end their season AGAIN. Long bus ride home without their coach who had more important things to do than to coach....
