This one is tough. As much as I would like to say the Cardinals, I just don't think this is the year. I really liked the intensity they brought in the final game against Brainerd and if they carry that over, they have a chance. But can they? They have shown it in other games, but just have been too inconsistent for my liking.

Sartell, I don't really know enough about. I watched the feed of their game against Alexandria, which Alexandria won, and that was early on.

So that leaves Little Falls and Fergus Falls. Little Falls has played well, but there are some teams that have figured out how to slow (not necessarily shut) them down. Fergus Falls can score, but they also give up goals.

Alexandria has beat Fergus, but it was the first game of the year. In Alexandria, the Cards jumped out to an early lead and dominated the first, but after that it was all Otters. If things go chalk, this is going to be a helluva semifinal, I feel.

Alexandria tied Little Falls in their barn, so the Cards have that going for them as I feel they are one team that has figured out how to slow them down. Their second contest in Alexandria was cancelled due to COVID protocols with Little Falls.

Fergus Falls and Little Falls went to Little Falls in the Flyers barn by a 4-3 score.

If I had the money to put down, my gut would say put it on Fergus Falls.

That is my thought also, but if I had a bit extra I would take the long shot in Sartell.

Would be nice for Tony to go out on one more trip to the state tourney for sure. But then again, FF hasn't been there in quite awhile so will be nice to see a new Section 6 attendee regardless who wins.

I had to look it up, but LF hasn’t been to state since 2012, and FF way back in 2003. It’s been all Cathedral and Alex for nearly a decade, save for that really good Apollo team in 2015.

Fergus should be the favorite next year so this shouldn't be their only chance, but a lot can change between now and then. Hope they can pull it off this year.

Little Falls is off to State with a 2-1 double OT win.

What a game! One for the memory book for sure. LF and FF have had some epic Section battles for sure.

Tony Couture heading to state in his final season (with his son in net) is a great storyline. That makes seven state tournaments in 28 years, and 13 section final appearances. It’s an impressive achievement in a typically strong section, and at a school with essentially zero hockey tradition before he arrived.

It’s a tough loss for Fergus Falls, but the Otters return almost everyone and should be the runaway favorite in 6A next season.

Plus I heard that section 6A might look a little different next year, with Saint Cloud Cathedral and Little Falls out, plus Sartell is moving to AA, Northern Lakes and Willmar moving to 6A, these are proposed changes, not official yet though.

Would Cathedral and LF move to 5 then?
