It's all about playoffs. It always has been. When they win a section title, they will be respected.
When it all comes down to it, you couldn't be more correct!
And sometimes that doesnt even work. GR wins the section, and takes 2nd in state, and they still dont get very much...

Well, I went to GRHS, and I have no hate for Greenway except the 2 times a year the two teams butt heads.

1967 and 1968 state champs, they were an arrogant group, and the GR hate was huge then! Too bad my dad quit hockey as a second line center in 8th grade, to play basketball!!

Yeah, wouldn't you want your rival to be good, so when you beat them it's even that much better?

Yeah, your DAD went there forty years ago and therefore you have to hate them. I went to St Thomas, rival of Cretin for over 100 years and I still respect them. Seeing them lose is nice, beating them is like winning state, but you are treating GR like packer fans treat the Vikings who aren't even from Wisconsin. Why not dislike someone that is a rivalry of YOUR school? Hate is such a harsh word, they're just kids...

I didn't say i "hate" them. I said i like "hating on them", common phrase used in today's language!
For you 30+ers
Hating on:
Is the act of talking trash or smack to a person or group. "Brett was really hating on GR's performance at the game last night"

I thought this thread was about Brainerd being underrated, not about how much Greenway and Grand Rapids hate each other

Brainerd IS UNDERRATED

Well, no, it's not a very common phrase, but yes, some do use it. And it continues to make them look less intelligent. But that's okay. I know what it means. Just not the kind of language that is usually associated with hockey, more with basketball.
Oh yeah, and threads never change topic...

They are #25 on PS2. After last year, how are they underrated? If they are as good as you say, and keep winning, that will only go up.

Not to take anything away from lee and the PS2 rankings, but MNpreps has Brainerd ranked 13th behind GR at 11th. I know the PS2 runs on mathematics and obviously cannot be biased, but I just wanted to point out that other ranking systems have noticed the great start that Brainerd has had. It is nice to see the recognition, and it goes to show that Da Warriors moving up in the rankings means they must have been underrated. Here is the link to the topic if you wanna see for yourself:

It doesnt matter if you were joking or not, the point that HShockeywatcher was making was that your team didnt beat Brainerd.

Pretty difficult to say whether they are underrated or not. One big win and a tie does not make a season-although a nice start. Let's see how this bad boy plays out!
