Which is why I vote against them in almost every poll they are mentioned on regardless of who they are playing. I haven't seen them play, and judging by the board, I don't care to.

I think this will be another nail bighter...i think if SCC can produce some scoring chances they will be ok...and if their younger D can step up and make some good plays...On the other end...i think that Orono can produce scoring chances regardless of who they play...they just need to bare down and finish their plays...Defense will also need to step up big time...Goaltending...Both teams have good goalies...Peterson let in 2 weak goals last time...but i hope both goalies have a good game

Orono and SCC tied at 3. It was a super game. Shots were almost equal as well 32-31 or something like that. The refs called the game pretty well so that wasn't an excuse for either team. Only call I can say is there was a debatable too many men on the ice call in OT. That's a risky one for the refs especially because no one noticed it but them. If someone scores on that power play, they would probably taken a lot of heat.

Earlier I said I thought Orono's best player was Persian. I change that assessment. He's a good player and probably has the brightest future on Orono's team because of his size, speed, and skill. But McClure is so fast and is just a sniper. He's the go to guy on that team if they need a goal.

SCC is still missing schmidt and Durant. I think we'll see Durant back here in a couple weeks and there is still no official word on Schmidt.

Overall, I think that Orono and SCC are both very good teams. Teams don't get much more even than these two as both games they've gone in to overtime and shots were nearly even.

The game ended in a 3-3 tie. Although I think the reffing was bad, it was bad all over the ice and for/against both teams. (Maybe I just don't like referees? I should get that checked out.. )

It was a fun/fast/hard hitting game. These two teams are about as well matched as any two teams can be. I would guess that if this same group of kids played 10 times, it would be a 5-5 split..

Oronon, you guys have a good hockey team. When CHS plays hard, they do too.

This was absolutely a tremendous game to watch between two very even and very good high school teams. Orono showed me a lot more than in their previous game with SCC. Both teams came ready to play. This was exhibited by the first few shifts of the game in which both teams came out hitting and fighting for the puck. The intensity continued for the entire game. I'd have to say that quality scoring chances were about equal for both teams. Each team iced the puck about the same number of times to catch a breather and to relieve the forechecking pressure by the other. You can't get much closer of a match than these two teams. Late in the 3rd period and throughout the OT, both teams went to two lines and neither team had much left in the tank at the end. There were a lot of tired legs out there.

This was the kind of game that will prepare these teams for their respective sectional play-off runs next month.

I'd have to say that if either of these teams played close to the intensity level that they showed last night, neither would have come close to losing to Mound or Delano earlier this week. But, that's the way it goes. You have to show up ready to play every night.

The only complaint I had with this game was that Orono coach Ryan seemed bent on having social hour with the officials, particularly late in the game when the heat was on. He sure was working over the officials to try to get a call in his favor. Repeatedly, the game had a very good pace and then the coach would pull over an official to discuss some call that obviously was correct but which was not in Orono's favor. In one instance in the OT, he argued for like a full minute or two on a playing the puck with a high stick call right in front of the SCC netminder. The puck was obviously swiped overhead by an Orono stick and then played by Orono again. The fact that it was whistled and the ensuing face-off brought down to the Orono end really seemed to perturb him. The coach went on and on with the official as if he were at a happy hour with free wing dings and the like. Many on SCC's side were anticipating a quick penalty call against SCC after that encounter, but fortunately the officials didn't cave in to the sales pitch.

I thought it was good game. Officiating was fine. If I were Orono, I would worry more about turnovers in their own end. They almost gave the game away a couple times in the 3rd period.

Solid call Tigerhockey

I was really impressed with how both goalies played last night. Both goalies kept their team in it when the heat was on late. Peterson made several solid saves throughout the game and Hess really stood on his head late and in OT when Orono outshot SCC something like 8-2.

Orono has young inexperienced defensemen Lopresti and yes they did turn it over quite a bit and they usually do, but their only returners are McClure who is everywhere and does everything, Jake Smith who plays solid D, and Michael Giesler who also plays solid defense. Other then that though they have 3 guys who have never played varsity hockey before and one is a freshman. If orono is going to do anything huge this year they need to get lots of experience under their defensemens belts, because thats the one part of their team that they dont have lots of depth.

McClure is a very solid. The sophomores are also doing fine. Giesler is also fairly good.

sophomore defencman fisk and hanson have really steped it up the past games. i think that jake smith is having a rough year and needs to work on developing both skating and stick handling skills. I think that Giesler also lacks some of the skating and stick handling skills, but to a far greater degree. he has been making fewer mistakes over the past few games but continues to be a hole in the lineup. mcclure had a couple of games where he was down but is obviously back to being the true leader of this team.

to me the game looked rather slow. both teams seemed like they were in slow motion at times. reffing i though was bad for both teams. SCC had the worst of the reffing during the second period and Orono the worst of it for the third period. The ref with the mustache was really bad. for the second goal, the puck hit crossbar and yet he pointed at the goal but didnt blow the whistle until about 5-8 seconds later when everybody had stoped and an SCC player walked in and pushed the puck into the net. I'd say this is a goal because the whistle was never blown, but this ref just needs to make up his mind rather than just looking at the net pointing trying to figure out if it went in or not.

about McClure being everywhere and doing everything is about as good as you can say it. I was VERY surprised when McClure finished regulation as a defenseman...especially after having a hatty.

Yea I was there too, the puck clearly hit the inside post and bounced out; it was a goal.
