I have not been able to "make" a woman do anything my entire life.

It just doesn't work that way....

If my daughter wants to forego hockey, that is her decision, not mine.

Hey all, Do any of you have games scheduled in Rochester at the new Graham 4 rink? You will really like it. JM and Century play mostly at the Rec Center but Mayo skates mainly at Graham. The rink seats about 800-1000 on one side. The locker rooms are at least twice the size of the other Rochester rinks. The sight lines are good and there is a running track around the top. It opened yesterday so I took a little tour. Now if we could only get the concession stands open more frequently  .

AMEN to that brother!

Austin at AL this afternoon for a little scrimmage. I have to admit I'm a little curious to see what Austin has to offer. Austin's #12 is good enough to carry the team. I'm also curious to see what kind of influence the new AL coaches have had on the girls, probably a little too early though.

RSI, Austin has a 7th grader that is friends with my daughter. After the scrimmage, will you write a little about how she played skating with the Big Dogs. She is pretty small but has no fear of anyone. You'll recognize her because she constantly wears a smile that looks like the Joker from Batman.

Who is #12 and what grade? I'll watch for her when Austin plays JM/L.

Interesting, is tigertime and Christmastree the same person. Tinysota, I know a good therapist for you and your daughter. They have always said that goalies and goalies parents are head cases. I think you two would make a great case study. This therapist could probably find his way to Albert Lea, by following the Banjo music.

I am as curious as RSI, to see if Austin's #12 can carry this team. I am not sure if there is enough talent around her to make a difference though. From the little I saw this summer and fall, it is doubtful.

Funny RSI. The therapists have given up on me. Give me a report after the scrimmage.

Rocket, you are new to Girl's High School hockey. Who is Austin's 12?
Here are a few websites for you.

I'll go with the assumption that you're referring to TJ? If so, I have seen her skate in Kasson but she was wearing a plain unmubered jersey.

Hey, if I knew the numbers of the current HS players and my daughter is still in 12U, wouldn't I be some kind of creepy stalker? Better keep that therapist number handy in case I get caught. :P

Actually falcon, I am pretty familiar with the girls that will be the next generation but not the jr/sr class. I know the Rochester girls and the big guns that graduated in 03-06 but didn't get to any games outside of Happy Valley last year. I hope to see more this year and will actually make it to your Mankota East home game at the end of November. Since Owatonna and Faribault have been skating at the A level in D8 I know who their players are but I generally haven't seen the AL and Austin B teams.

Honestly....you guys know me better...do you really think that i would degrade myself to such a name as tigertime? Come on fellas

And yes....i am an enormous head case, but find that therepists end up rather obselete when you're a goalie...nothing can help with our minds

Oh and we won 12 to 4....

I am not christmaseve, thankfully, I love the game. :D

Message sent: 12-4. wasn't even close. Maybe now RSI and kh's dad will believe in us.

Prediction again: Albert Lea is going to state. Fairbault, you are next. Our #5 was the best player on the ice. We only had to zamboni Austin's side of the ice.

No, falcons89 = creepy stalker :P :P

TT,
A). Why would you care if I or KH's dad believe in you guys? It only matters that you guys believe.
B). Believe? I have said from the beginning of last season that this could be one of AL's most successful teams. You guys have a lot of good things going in your favor including skill, depth, quality goaltending and a favorable Section. You guys have a very realistic chance to play in the State tourney AND maybe even contend for the Big 9 title.
C). Message sent? You beat Austin! A team that graduated 8 quality players from last year's State tourney team.
D). Was it really 12-4? I must have missed a few AL goals

Give me a report after the scrimmage.
*I missed the first 1/2 hour*

1). The rust was clearly evident. I thought both teams looked like they were going about 3/4 speed.
2). AL's #5 was the best player on the ice for AL and it wasn't even close!
3). Austin looked small, which I took to mean they were young.
4). A couple Austin players, 1 forward and 1 D, caught my eye. Sorry, but I don't know their names.
5). I thought both teams looked tired and confused. It looked like they were thinking instead of playing.
6). KH was solid.
7). Not crazy about the AL line combinations, but it's early. I assume the coaches are trying to figure out what they have.
8. It was ONLY a scrimmage, so it's tough to take away too much.

Hey falcons,
Where's your "Faribault is the greatest" signature? :?: Are you losing faith in your club? :P  How is your team's season shaping up anyway? :o

Best wishes,

12-4 .........., scrimmage or not that is quite a difference. I would say Austin is probably what we have guessed. Was Austin's backup goalie from last year, in nets? Did both teams play 3 lines? AL #5 the best player on the team.... can she carry this team to state if need be?

Faribault is still great, but with some changes in our team, I will have to say AL is the clear favorite in this section. Congrats, the target is on you. I still hope we come alive though, and beat you.

I still think KH and TT are the same person. Split personality. Love/hate relationship. :D That has to be some locker room. KH you don't like the name tigertime, it is degrading? That must be your other personality wishing you were a falcon.

1) I second that, last 20 minutes were pitiful, except for TJ's check, that brought some excitement.

3) Very small. And Firecracker, I didn't even realize there was hockey being played after the first lines got off the ice.

4) Wagner was the shining star and Ellingson is Austin's only defenseman. Didn't notice much from TJ after the stickhandle around 5 AL girls for 2 minutes on PK.

7) It seemed to work. All the lines scored I believe. Don't be bitter about your kid not being first line.

I didn't recognize the Austin goalie. Never seen her before. Definately not the backup from last year...she moved a few times

Very astute...because the backup from last year is not out for hockey at this time.

Interesting info: Austin's back up goalie from last year, is not playing? Quit or ineligible? Either way, that position last year, then was wasted on her.

Wagner is a decent player, I was looking at her stats from last year. Does she pass the puck though? 18 goals, 5 assists. A little out of balance. Good players are usually more balanced with more assists.

Has TJ lost her fire? Then again, I should check with Tinysota, she could of been injured.

She is not playing...at least for now.
BOTH J and W are very good players among others.
No injuries to report...

Looking over some of the rosters....is it that common for teams to be loaded up with 7th graders in girls A hockey?

I knew U14 teams got raided but I would have thought most U12 teams would be safe unless you had the next Winnie Brodt playing on your U12 team!

I only saw two (2) 7th graders...
But the rosters are not all final the way it looks
The numbers are definitely down.

Confession time...I only checked Northfield and I saw 2 Varsity 7th graders and 3 JV 7th graders.....that's still surprising to me!

We don't have the numbers the metro/big town teams do. We HAVE to take the 7th graders or we normally can't field a team.
Most 7th graders don't play much or don't have an effect but they are place holders, give the starters a rest and gain experience at this level.

by winnings not 4 everyone
So does all this mean if you find a 5th or 6th grader better than your 7th grader, she will be considered? Cmon, think about it, if they are getting limited time, they are not getting any value in their time on the ice. They simply cannot compete at HS level. Not enough years behind them regardless of the money the may have been spent trying to get them to the NHL. If a team cannot get consistently filled with 9-12 graders, I might have to change my name to "Hockeys not 4 every town". Time to consolidate or move up north. #1 Hockeymom says Crookston could use some girls.
