Did Albert Lea play Lourdes on Monday?

If so, does anybody know the score?

That should be a good game tonight.. Has NU played either team?? I know they have been on a roll this month. thursday should be a good one too if the refs let them play....

C'mon goaler, fill us in...
11-0 to Windom?
Windom works hard, and them beating Waseca is not a shock.
The margin is, tho. Wha happened?

Puckhandler. Do you think the coaches look at these rankings come seeding time or do they just go by record and head to head. I'm guessing they use a combination of things, but not exactly sure what.

Just figured I'd break those two power ranking sights down for just 1A. I would guess that coaches may take a look at them, along with the other stuff you mention.

I'd say head-to-head is most important and then common opponents. Those rankings tend to put weight on strength of schedule, which hurts Marshall.

I wasn't at the game a2anda10. But I'll quote from one of the Waseca players who shall remain anonymous. "It seemed like everything they shot went it.''

I don't rip players on here but Windom made the most of their shots.

Waseca is a funny team. They have some talent, but they are grossly inconsistent. Windom has some talent too, but 11-0? I'm at a loss to explain it, and so were the Waseca coaches.

I would not have been surprised by a Windom victory. They've beaten Waseca teams in youth hockey. They have a solid goalie and Nick Eisenmenger is a excellent forward who has always hurt Waseca.

But nobody can explain 11-0. I don't know what happened. But it was bad, real bad.

I'm going to the Austin-West game tonight. I see West had 28 shots against Windom in the 2nd period after only 7 in the first. Man talk about
inconsistent. But that's part of what makes it fun.

Can Someone Update on AL game?

Mankato West-Austin

Mankato West 9, Austin 1

All West. Austin was way outskated and West had little trouble putting eight goals behind Aaron Dooley who was pulled after No. 8 on about 30 shots. Brad DeVries held up pretty well after that, allowing only 1 goal on about 16 shots. 46 total shots for West.

West's power play looked good and they skated rings around Austin. I think Austin had about 20 shots.

It was 3-1 after one, and 8-1 after two. Running time in the third. On a dark and cold night in Austin, a bad night for the Packers.

Dodge County 5, Waseca 2

Lourdes 4
Albert Lea 2 with 5 minutes or so left.

It's pretty much been Lourdes by 2, AL cuts it to 1, Lourdes goes back up by 2 kind of game.

NU wins by forfiet (1-0) over Fairmont. I'm not sure why Fairmont forfieted but maybe ready to cash it in.

Tonight:

Albert Lea @ Austin

New Ulm @ Marshall

Should be a good one out west. I'd say Marshall is a 1 goal favorite.

I'd give the edge to West on Saturday vs. Marshall since they are at home.

Not much has been said about West lately.........people losing respect for them? If so, why? Everything seems to be about Marshall and Albert Lea for the section.

West is flying a little under the radar and I am not really sure why. They just went thru an easy part of their schedule and took care of business by handily beating teams they should.
Game Sat with Marshall should be a good game.
I say West 4-1

No lost respect. They are as capable as any of these teams.
Probably just the fact they have not gone head-to-head with anyone for awhile.
Marshall has the luxury (or curse) of seeing all 3 over a 2-week span.
Somewhat meaningless, no titles at stake, it's all about preparing for sections at this point.
AL/Marshall has been a really good matchup the past two years, and at their age level for ever. Always one-goal games, always hard-nosed and respectful. Marshall/West pretty much the same way, head coaches respect each other, players as well. AL/West has had a bump or two along the way, and the margins of victory are usually larger, but a great contrast in styles. GAC will be rockin' no matter who ends up matched against who.

Well said 2anda10. Gotta throw NU in as well as you have said, these teams have always been close from PW's on up.

New Ulm 1 Marshall 0.
Pretty tight the whole way thru.
Nothing much called on either team, penalty-wise.
Both played hard, but close to the vest. No big chance-taking on either side.
On to Mankato West for Marshall on Saturday.

Like I said before the only teams to score 5 goals on NU have been teams ranked in the top 10 in 1A. A good game for both squads but goaltending and D come out on top. If I recall all predictions were Marshall 6,5,4 to NU's 1,2? Looks like sections will be really fun to watch.

Big win for the Ulmers!

Status of the top 4 teams with 1 big game left on Saturday:

IMO, Right Now:

1. A.L.
2. West
3. N.U.
4. Marshall

N.U. and Marshalls losses to A.L. can be seen as equal. 4-2 (eng) for N.U. and 4-3 OT for Marshall. N.U. gets the slight nod due to the fact they split one goal games and Marshall lost to Luverne.

A.L. beats out West due to the fact they beat them 5-1 and wests win was a 3-1 (eng).

If West wins Saturday I believe the seedings stay like this and A.L. and Marshall could meet in a rematch of last years semifinal won by Marshall 3-2.

If Marshall wins, now there is a big mess for the 2-4 spots. An argument could be made for all three teams to be in the #2 spot, and all three teams to be in the #4 spot.

It's a shame that New Ulm still doesn't play Mankato West....the picture would be clearer.

If there's a problem with fans, invite the police to the game! It's time for those two towns/schools to grow up for the good of the teams!

Agree with puckhanler. It amazes me New Ulm doesn't play the two Mankato schools. Why play each other all through youth levels and then not at HS level? Come on grow up and move on!!

I agree that the Mankato schools and NU should play each other. Heck some of the kids are good friends with each other from playing together in Select 15's,16's etc, but there is also some bad blood left over from some of the youth games. Problem is and I was not around when they did play each other in HS, but from what I heard it got pretty nasty with rocks thru bus windows etc. Not sure if this is true, maybe someone who remembers can enlighten us. But look at it this way, how intense of a game will it be in Sectionals if they happen to meet.

You know, now that I think about it, it is alright that they don't play. What difference does it make. Sure it may make seeding easier, but the intrigue of the unknown is what will make the game great if these teams meet.

Boy I just did a 180.

Sounds like the Hatfields and McCoys to me. We can't remember what we're fighting about but we're sure going to keep the fight going.

What difference does it make? How about 2 or 4 quality games 20 miles away rather than searching 100+ miles for a meaningless game sound?

The bad blood stems back to the 90's these teams had some dandy games. I think in both cases the lower seed MW came to NU and upset a 1 or 2 seed. Players fighting with refs, 5 players in the box at one time ect. I also heard that the last time NU played west was in Kato, NU players and bus got egged as they left the arena. I'm sure there are a ton of other things. As far as I know NU and East have never had trouble. On to the new one of there players told me they play West in kato next year? Rumor??
