GRG, is going to bomb in the playoffs because of the weak goaltending.

You are going to come on here and say that with your first post? Shameful...
Jessica Havel has a career record of 31-4-2.
This season she is 18-2-2 and her GAA is 1.97 to go along with a .909 save %
Not even close to weak goaltending.
Comparing to other top goalies in section:
Laura Bellamy (Duluth) 12-4-4 .933 save %, 1.60 GAA
Sarah Gustafson (CEC) 8-8-3, .917 save %, 2.17 GAA
Katie Gilderman (PHM) .919 save %, 1.50 GAA
Kim Fredrick (FL) 8-3 1.79 GAA, .927 save %
Sure, some of those numbers are better, but there is little argument that GRG plays the toughest schedule, along with CEC. Any GAA under 2.00 and save % over .900 is doing the job.

How’s that moral loss theory working for the lightning faithful? Sorry, couldn’t resist

. One big win and they’re back on track.

I just think that the goaltending is the weak spot in the line up. When your up 3-0 you should'nt go into ot. Her record is good because of the late game winning goals from Molly,Dana and Erickson. Some games the save % is very bad. The backup goalie is very new to the position. What if she gets sick or hurt?? Why did the other goalie move away???

There is no room for negativity in this thread. Take it elsewhere please.

Cloquet is a good team. I dont think a 3-0 lead is impossible to recover from. I think their(GRGs) goaltending and defense is excellent. Having watch them shutout Alex earlier in the year.

What's even more impressive is that they've done all that while playing a very tough schedule!

Just a quick
I coached against Grand Rapids and Greenway (youth hockey) prior to combining and I am trying to remember who the Greenway girls are on the GRG roster this year.

The Cloquet game amy have been a bit of a let down, but I think they are one of the top 3 teams, if not the top.

Cloquet is the team I am most worried about in the playoffs. Although PHM, Duluth and Forest Lake will be no slouch either.

Section 7AA and 8AA are very similar in that you have a team that most think will win but you have one team that could easily overtake them and another 2 that are more than a darkhorse.

I think the state tournament will be very exciting this year with a more level playing field and no clear cut favorite.

Sealdog35 wrote:Don't blame me for putting water on all your guys's fires, but i fail to see a reason for all of the hype behind GRG. I don't know much about them, but they don't seem to be anything too special. I really don't understand some of the predictions of the Hibbing Game..."8-0.....running time". Hibbing is obviously a solid team, since the game ended 2-1. Hibbing just worked Bemidji tonight 3-0.
I think GRG has a lot to overcome to get far in the playoffs. Obviously CEC is gonna come to play, and Forest Lake seems solid as well. I'd even give the East/Central/Denfeld team an outside shot.
All in all, I think that GRG is a little overhyped on this board. I'll give it to them, they look like they are a quality team, but come on, be a little realistic.
This cracked me up when I read it. Lightning obviously proved this poster wrong last year. I know I make these mistakes often, but I got a good chuckle. I thought maybe others would too...
