It's listed as a 6:15 start on the MSHSL site I've been putting too many miles on and had to take a break this weekend so I'm gonna miss it. Get to see UND v SCSU tonight though with "The Whiz Kid" back in the line-up.

Coborn assist (Lehrke,?)

McMorrow assist (?)

Really hard to tell with PR announcer DeLaHunt

Final shots

BFCG Lost today by 1 in OT. Poor officiating and knowledge of the game by the officials cost them. An extra time-out in OT as well as some calls late in the game hurt. The kids played well, 9 skaters all played very very well. Just a tough one to swallow but I am sure they will bounce back. I would hate to be Kittson coming into Bagley next weekend with how they are playing.

with all due respect to bagley...i beleive kittson will beat them by at least 5 goals.

bagley is in a bigtime crunch because of only have 9-10 skaters every night, and the one time i watched them they took a ton of rediculous penalties

Must have watched them early in the season as the last 2 weeks they have not had a game with over 5 penalties. They are playing well and maturing as the season progresses. You may be right, KC will have something for them but I would not count any team in this section out. Even Walker has shown major signs of improvement. Not saying them or Bagley will make a killing in the section tournament, just that they have progressed and I would not take any team in the section as a joke or lightly.

WOW! Congrats to WHA, I was not expecting that score. Was it a controlled game by either team with a hot goalie or what?

I agree with you on that one. It looked as if pr came into their game against northern lakes a little relaxed and they almost let their perfect season slip away in a game they should win. Have to give credit to northern lakes again...played hard and were coached very well.

Northern Lakes looked very well coached... I guess Chambers(Northern's Coach) played for the great North Stars of Minnesota...but yes it was almost a slip from a still undefeated season

The difference in talent between the "bottom feeders" and top teams is fading, whether noticeable or not. I have had the priveledge of watching Northern Lakes quite a few times this year and the progress they have made from the first game of the year to the Holiday tournament was huge. Was not as impressed with their goaltending until late but their forwards and defense has been pulled together.

WHA has done the same thing. They may not be the best team in the state but they will come to play and may bite you if you are not careful. Ely, RLF, Northern Lakes are all just examples of teams that could come out and knock off a big dog come section tournament time.

I was actually impressed with Northern Lakes team..and not only because they kept it close with PR...PR may have not played a great game but NL kept it close the whole time..props to them and props to PR who is still unbeaten (13-0)..Good luck to both teams the rest of the way

figured I would get one reply on that comment and yes I do believe that. I dont think any team can really afford to come in cocky against any other team in 8A because while they may be more talented, you may run into a hot goaltender. If you get down by 2 against a hot goaltender that may be all she wrote. Coaches are smart, they will back a team off and play a trap and shut down the middle of the ice when needed. I am not saying Warroad will be beaten by WHA or Bagley, but that each team should probably make sure to show up because you never know what can happen...

9 out of 10 games Warroad will put Walker or Bagley into running time.
East Grand Forks would do the same.

In the 10th game; Warroad would put the game into running time.

Yes , they have agood record and a couple of kids that can skate.

Using comparable scores may not always be accurate, but it does give clues.....
Northern Lakes 5 Becker 3
River Lakes 7 Becker 2
And River Lakes is a poor hockey team. But Northern Lakes and River Lakes will be looked at for the #7 & #8 seeds (or reversed) in 8AA.

Don't let good plays by average players against less than average players fool you, give you a sense of quality hockey.

Section 8A teams will be hard pressed to supplement Warroad and East Grand Forks in the finals. Bemidji, Crookston and Thief River Falls have sophomores that may take them there. Park Rapids has Lehrke. Those 4 will need quality goaltending. which of those 4 teams is putting a goaltender on thel ine with a schedule of Warroad / East Grand Forks type teams.

The 'bottom feeders' have no shot to win a quarter-final game.

Who would be considered a bottom feeder? I believe Kittson and RLF may suprise a team if it gets to that point. Not that I am completely disagreeing with your assessment of the section, just that I have a different feeling about some teams. I do not trust the goaltending that RLF and KC have but at the same point in time the puck bounces where it wants in late Feb into early March...

The bottom feeders are the bottom 2; they get to play the top 2...
so we have
Warroad
EGF
Bemidji
TRF
PR
Crookston
LOW
RLF
Hallock
Bagley
Walker

11 teams
So..
#6 vs #11 #11 will not win.
#7 vs #10 does not matter, neither will beat #2
#8 vs #9 does not matter, neither will beat #1

So #7 to #11 are bottom feeders.
Did I forget anyone?

So lets look at Red Lake Falls.
Lost big to Crookston.
Lost to Hallock, to LOW.

Biggest game was a tie with Northern Lakes, but we a have already established Northern Lakes as a poor team.

Okay Hallock.
Beat Red Lake Falls.
Lost to LOW.
Lost to Park Rapids 6 -1, which 'may' be considered a top level team, but after a close game with Northern Lakes, not many are going to give them a shot to make the finals.

So I cannot see Hallock or RLF in the semis.

Warroad will be in the semis.

EGF, Bemidji, PR, Crookston, Theif River Falls, and LOW are the 6 teams vying for the other 3 spots.
So if Warroad is #1 seed and WILL make the semis, a tema does not want to be #4 or #5 seed. Balls to walls for #2 or #3, boys.
EGF, PR and Bemidji seem to be in the forefront of that race.
But TRF looms on the horizon for PR.

So the seeding seems to be moving toward that one game. (Assuming everyone else follows course with their appropriate wins. And no serious injuries or stupidity.)
