NO WAY did 27 for West spray the goalie on purpose! The goalie was practically to the blue line. Litchfield is completely a one end player, he is as skilled as any player in the section but scores goals a lot better than he can play defense. And yes there are plenty of players in the section that can keep up with him.

AL @ East
Austin @ DC
Becker/BL @ RWV
West @ Mayo
Marshall @ SE

Litchfield is the fastest skater there is in the section, if you can find someone to keep up with him, without getting a penalty let me know.

I agree with lunchy. Walton is probably the best all around player in the Section. Fast and gritty. Great leader and probably is playing his best hockey right now

Interesting on how the current rankings have West and Albert Lea rated
PS2
West 49th
Albert Lea 50th
Mitch Hawkers
Albert Lea 59th
West 60th
Just goes to show how even these teams are based on schedules and wins this year

I don't agree i think Litchfield is the best player in section 1A

to me litchfield is the most talented player to step on the ice in section 1a. walton is a very hard working player which makes him very good. its hard to determine who's the best player in 1a if you count best as most talented hardest working or combination of both. leivermann may need some mention in this as well?

Walton, with Leivermann and Anderson(plays the total ice) close behind

Leivermann and Litchfield are two very talented players and are able to take over a game at any time while Walton is a very hardwork which does make him very good but over all i think they all are great players and it should be fun to see what happens in sections

yes studlee i agree with the anderson part as well... that first line for west is very talented and could be deadly if opperating at the right time.

litchfield is a good player (not the best) but could be so much better if he would get over his ego and play both ends- you have to score to win but if they score more you lose

This discussion about who is the best player in the section doesn't mean a thing. It's going to come down to which plays the best over the course of the next two and a half weeks.
Something that is overlooked in this section is the quality of goaltending on the top four teams. I think that may be the biggest thing as sections approach. With these quality goalies, seems as though the "best" team may not even win on any given night, but maybe just he best goalie.

I think Walton's grit and determination in both ends of the ice along with great skill make him the best all around player in 1a. I think Litchfield is second best and if he played in his own end more could be the best. Two players I have seen with not as much skill as either of these 2 but with speed to keep up with them is #11 for East(when he wants to), #10 for Marshall and #7 for Waseca is pretty quick too.

Hard to mention Walton without dropping Arendt in there once in awhile. He's underrated, imo. Those two feed off each other very well. I see it more as combos that make teams go.
Walton/Arendt/Royce a good trio for AL, Leiverman/Anderson/Litchfield work well for West. Marshall relies on Peterson/Mellenthin/Boerboom much the same way as the others. New Ulm's strength is 10-12 solid players that do their jobs. Waseca's hope is carried by Meyer. Kolstad and Miller are still dangerous for East. Kirby for Austin.
Starting to agree with the poster who said the goalies may end up being the difference-makers. Blasing/Trembley for West, Waalkens/Casanova for AL, Haukom/Ivers for Marshall and Buegler for NU can all stop the puck and can steal any game these teams will play.
No. 7 for Waseca

No. 7 for Waseca is Andy Meyer. I haven't seen his up-to-date stats recently but I know he is over 50 points for the season with close to 30 goals. He may be the top scorer in Section 1A.
He's a very skilled player and he's the leading scorer in Waseca high school hockey history. He's been a great offensive player for Waseca, and he's been a great credit to the program.

AL 3-3-3-9
ME 2-0-1-3
SOG
AL 36
ME 22
Good first period of action with play going both ways probably should have been 1-1 as AL had 2 soft goals and East had 1. The second period was all AL where some of their veterans really outmuscled and outsmarted the young kids from East as on many of their goals they were well out of position. The third period was a joke, East spent 75% of the period in the box and for some pretty rediculous calls which kind of went on the whole game, you can disagree with me all you want but some of those were just bad and the official calling them I have seen reffing in AL since I was a squirt...a little shady. With average goaltending for East this should have been about 5 or 6-3. With even penalties on both sides it would have been a great game cause I dont think East was outskated for much of the game at all.
For anybody who wants a little advantage against AL alls I can say is get under #5's skin. In the first period the East center swing at the puck with .06 seconds left trying to put the puck on net and followed through on 5's shins and he clipped him in the face(no call). In the third East's #27 and #5 were face to face jawing with their arms on their sides, 27 made a motion like he was gonna cross check him but did nothing, #5 again just clocked him in the face.(coincidentals

)
Best moment of the night was when the East parents were complaining about the coincidental call after the East kid was punched in the chin and an AL parent turns around and says "Ya and he would F'n drop any of you too(refering to the parents)" It was a classic.

Mayo 3
West 2
West outshot Mayo 40-20 and controlled most of the 5-5 play. Donohue played very well, West's goalie had an off night.

Did the kid in net for West have all white or all red pads on?

Red pads and from the looks of it both teams will be having kids sitting out of their next games at the end of the game fight.

Shots were 46-22.
The terrible official has never reffed in Albert Lea.
He was aweful.
Ugly game.
What happened in the West Mayo game, did I see something about a fight?

see now your pissing me off and making me have to do this... what were the soft goals for AL pretty much all SNIPES.... how did you get under his skin where did you get the advantage pretty sure he walked over east several amount of times....i have never never never never seen any of the refs since i was a squirt first time i saw them was at the HS level.... take your 4-19 record and cry somewhere else....

That "bad" ref has done one game for AL against Austin all year. If you would've watched the jv game you would've seen the same "phantom" calls you are complaining about going against AL.
KATO,
maybe you should worry more about the product of play that East has on the ice, there is plenty there to worry about. By the way, that is how #5 (WALTON) plays all of the time. Gritty and hard working. Never afraid of anyone and a great leader for an AL squad that is looking to take the section.
P.S. Why isn't "ZAMBONI" jumping all over these guys for complaining about the refs?
