Big game in Marshall tonight!
NU/SE needs to use its speed and depth to over whelm the Tigers. Marshall this is a HUGE Game they have won 7 in a ROW.
Defense vs. Offense type of a game.
Should be a good one!

Should be a good one? Between two mediocre teams or what? How do two teams like this play good hockey?

I have yet to see Marshall this year, but I have seen NU/SE a couple times. New Ulm's top 2 lines are very good, with their second line in my opinion more consistent then their first
As for Marshall, haven't seen them, but if they can get a couple power plays early and can convert on one they will have a great chance of winning, because when NU/SE loses the momentum of a game they seem to never recover and lose hockey games (ala St. Peter)
Another point of the game for me is going to be the goaltenders. If Marshall finds themselves back on their heels early Campion will have to save them like he has before. As for NU/SE if Marshall finds themselves on a power play early as mentioned before Kraus will have to come up big. He is coming off an injury but appeared to seem fine on tuesday.
NU/SE probably has more depth than Marshall from what I hear on the boards. But if their defense kills them like it has before watch out for Marshall to get another big Section 3A win tonight.
NU/SE should win the hockey game but nothing is a sure thing with these 2 teams. I'm taking NU/SE 5, Marshall 2

As of lately, Marshall has been getting production from their freshman. I think tonight will be a score of 6-1 New Ulm. Should be an interesting game..

St. Cloud Apollo knocked off Willmar 3-1 in Willmar just now. I was chatting with an Apollo parent during the game and came to find out he was Don Lucia's brother!

New Ulm scored one from red line.
One almost at red line.
One campion knocked in himself
And one Marshall d shot in the net
Ugly game for the tigers.

I see the HUB has the game 5-1.

So...like I said. The tigers are NOT hot beating one mediocre team and six crappy teams..... Have a horrific showing against New Ulm ends their "Hot streak..." Yikes.

So NU scoring two goals from near red line and another two on defensive carelessness or mishandling of puck means that NU dominated the game? Sounds like Marshall shot themselves in the foot more than NU beat them. More info? I know a win is a win, but not sure that really says anything about either team except that the supposed 'hot' streak is over. Any thoughts on Dodge County/Luverne?

Who said they were dominated?

I don't think anyone said they were dominated. I said that Marshall had a horrific showing to end their "Hot Streak of seven wins," six against bottom teams in the section.

Wasn't it Dodge County the team who almost spoiled Luverne's win streak? Could be a tough one for Luverne on the road, but I'm going to say a score of 6-3 Luverne

Their win streak is up to 9 now, right?

Sorry - the 'dominated' seemed implied by the score and the post with no other info I assumed. Yeah yeah.

Gino Lucia. Sophomore. Not quite as good as his cousin Mario Lucia.

Holy Family 5 Hutch 1
Hutch is a VERY DANGEROUS team. They are playing top end teams very tough. I really think they are getting better every night where I am not sure you could say the same about others......
Speaking of that I will go out on a limb and say Dodge County has a great shot of knocking off Luverne tomorrow.... Should of beat them the first time now on their home ice. I like the Wildcats Chances!!

If thats accurate, thats a really ugly loss for NUSE.
Mound is not a team that should crush a New Ulm team hoping to compete for a section title in a couple weeks.

Looking way too far ahead, into the "second round" of playoff matchups.
This is how I see them falling into place
Luverne VS Morris/Worthington
Willmar VS Windom
New Ulm VS LDC
Hutch VS Marshall
These games will all end up being rematches. The only one not having been played yet is Windom and Willmar. I cant see this being very close, Willmar should throttle a windom team thats been trending the wrong direction.
LDC and NUSE would be the only rematch game that was competitive. They played on 18 Jan with a 2-1 Final in favor of New Ulm. Shots were pretty similar and the game was close. New Ulm would be the favorite, but not nearly as much as the other games.
Hutch outshot Marshall by more than double in their first meeting and would be the favorite. If Marshall could sneak a few behind the shaky goaltending hutch has to offer, it could get interesting.
The regular season is not over, and lots can still happen, but things are surely shaping up.
