New Prague is starting to roll over people. Even from the 4 seed I like them to win this section. Everyone else seems to be struggling down the stretch. Albert Lea loses to Mayo. West barely beats Century. Lourdes and Red Wing are either losing against teams they should beat or getting close wins that should be easy.

New Prague has a good shot but with the 4 seed they will have 3 tough games instead of 2 like the top 3 seeds, If I remember right didn't West beat Mayo 6-1 without leivermann???

Black Ice must not have seen the West Century game if he claims they barely beat Century. Except for the 6 minutes of 5 on 3 advantage for Century West pretty much controlled the other 43 minutes. During that 6 minutes is when Century scored their goals. West was the best team in the Big nine this year why not give them some credit

West's overall body of work is very good (winning the big-9). But the AA teams are down in that conference this year. I'm going off how teams seem to be playing right now. Can you honestly say that West has shown great improvement over the season or seperated themselves from the rest of 1A. New Prague looks like they have improved the most and are playing better hockey than anyone else coming into sections. They're my pick.

Why are you surprised... Which team above them should move down?

Even as the fifth seed, I think Red Wing has as good a chance as any of the top five seeds. There is some real balance in this section.

it should be a fun one to watch.
Ehh dont mind my post.. I think it was just weird to see them so low. I would have possibly put them above New Prague, RW definitely did not play their best game when they played them the second time. But I guess thats what you get for playing bad so close to seeding.

I agree though, gonna be fun to watch.

it doesnt matter who has the better record or who the better team is, if you come into playoffs winning or with greater momentum, its very easy to knock off a better skilled team. i mean west has lost and played too many close games lately compared to new prague blowing teams out. this section is going to be very interesting and i cant wait to see the finals.

West lately hasn't lost a game! just because they played albert lea two or three weeks ago and won it in a great game. But otherwise they've cleaned up on the teams they were to clean up on. they played with team that they weren't suppose to clean up on. yes momentum has alot to do with it but you can't say west has lost momentum because they only beat century 4-2.

i agree that new prague is in the mix, but lourdes lost to them @ new prague in overtime. that game could have gone either way. they've won 7 of 8 games since then, winning their last game 15-1. how is that not momentum going into the sections? i won't be shocked if red wing knocks them out in the quarterfinals. nemanich is one of the best coaches in the section.

I think no matter who wins between Red Wing and New Prague that will be Lourdes toughest game, it's just a match up thing and neither Albert Lea or West play enough good defense to knock Lourdes off. If Lourdes gets through Saturday I think they're going to win the section but I give them only a 50/50 shot of surviving that long.

I am kind of looking forward to the outcome of 2 games thursday, should they end up that way, Northfield @ Albert Lea will show a lot about how the Big Nine and Missota compare and La Crescent @ Lourdes - I expect Lourdes to win by a bunch but this is Lourdes first playoff game under this regime and the pressure to win there is more intense than anywhere else in this section. Youth hockey in Rochester built this team over the past couple of years to win, the pressure on these kids will be huge.

The one thing i dont understand is how they can say that playing in Rochester is a neutral site to play at for semifinal games. I mean cmon Lourdes has homefield advantage they have to drive downtown to get where they are going.

If all goes the way it should, when it comes to semis New Praugue will play Rochester Lourdes. And Albert Lea will play Mankato West. Lourdes will have most momentum because the final games will be played down in Rochester.

i wasnt saying west and lourdes dont have momentum or that new prague is gonna roll in sections, i was just saying their chances increase with their momentum and well play as of late. also a 15-1 win going into sections isnt always the best. either way its playoffs and all teams will bring their best so good luck and i cant wait.

If it comes down to West vs. AL and Lourdes vs. New Prague, let's hear some predictions to see who goes to the championship game.

My prediction is two very good teams will advance to the championship and whoever comes out will represent 1A well. It may well come down to who can get solid, consistent goaltending

solid, consistent goaltending=bruggeman

west wins the section.

About Bruggeman or however you spell his name i think he could fall under pressure. I think he is good when people shoot glove side everytime on him.

Lets remember that these are pimple-faced teenagers and the idea that they should kill one team on a given night and not lose to another team, etc. becomes moot. If the planets align, the teenagers decide they are going to give their all as a team, rabbits foot is placed firmly between cheeks, you have a big upset that everybody is talking about on here. When the chips fall, one fact remains: Billy from the winning team that scored the game winner is gonna get to touch suzy's cute little buttons...and johnny from the losing team is gonna go home to touch nothin' but the cute little buttons on his wii.

I don't see any mention of big upsets on here. If any of the top 5 seeds win the big prize it wouldn't be considered an upset. Northfield would be considered a sleeper for 1 upset game. Faribault getting to the semi's would be pretty big. Any team other than the top 5 going to the 'Cel' other than to watch the games would be not only a monumental upset, but someone better start checking into some kind of conspiracy.
By the way Mankato's paper list's..........never mind, no need to stir the pot.

What do you have against this kid? He is among the states best goalies stats wise. You can say west plays a bad schedule and all that but he is still good. I don't think he will fall...I think he will dominate.

If you're talking goaltending, here's how I rank the top 5.

1. AL- Waalkens and Distad have been nothing but solid all year
2. Mankato West- Bruggeman has been solid, we'll see how he reacts in high pressure situations.
3. Rochester Lourdes- Scudamore has been good when he needs to be.
4 & 5. Not sure on the last two. Seems like Red Wing has had better GAA throughout the year so I'll give the slight nod to them

Freak would not have guessed you would pick AL's goalies..ha...ha. They both are solid. Who do you think gets the semi's if it is West and AL. Waalkens has played in the big game before, Distad not so. If you go by rotation, wouldn't West see Distad provided both teams advance, plus he has beat them once before.
