I don't know how good of hockey player you are, but to get a scholarship you need to have grades that can get you in the door. Like I said earlier, keep studying.
I am not picking on you Ben-elli, but you need to know what is important in life. And it is not just you, but several young posters make reading these threads difficult.
Perfect grammar and spelling is not required, but at least an attempt is.
And the whining and blaming others will not get you far, on the ice, in school, at a job, or just about anywhere.
The reality Ben is that I am a friend of yours, not an adversary.

Come on people, don't be like this when you lose. Or win, or anything.

Bemidji player injured in the Brainerd game was on skates (no gear or neck brace) at practice last night. Still sore (neck ligaments???) but likely for state

. We have a good hockey community up here in the North Region and I am sure he appreciates everyone’s concern and good wishes...

All 4 teams had the same record 3-1. If you look at the goals for and against...
and if you just take the games the four tied teams had in common
Roseau 0
Grand Rapids 0
Bemidji +1
Moorhead -1
and if you take all games played
Roseau +11
Grand Rapids +4
Bemidji +7
Moorhead +6
Three seeds to state would have allowed for another game between Grand Rapids and Moorhead...
Your forgeting that every region had 2 teams to state. So if your region was given 3, who would only get one? Also, there are a lot of teams wondering why they didn't go, I hate the new format as much as anyone, but you have to live with what MN Hockey has put in. Hopefully Elliott will get it changed back to the double elim format from previous years.

To add some equity to the above situation you would either need to add a third seed from each region (losers of the crossover games play, 12 team state tournament) or require the second place pool team to beat the first place pool team twice in the crossover match up. I think the 12 team tournament would be more exciting

Run it like they did the VFW districts. District 8 was a 9 team double elim format. You may end up playing more games that way(GR played 7 in 4 days)but you end up with a true winner, and a true second. Bemidji is fortunate to be going to VFW state. They placed 2nd in the tourney, but advanced because the team they lost to in the championship is the host. Fortunate year for the little Lumberjacks.

GR, you still complaining about 7 games in 4 days, you never see us "Cake Eaters" from down south complaining about that.

Didn't sound like GR was complaining - just saying you could end up playing more games.
Wow, cake eater - lighten up!

I normally don't speak up too much on this stuff, but lets stop the crying up north. Unfortunatly in the past years the births to state were not handed out to the teams that deserved to go. That includes the 3 spots from the north. In the past it was 3 Northern teams, 1 southern/western team and 4 Metro teams which by the way included St. Cloud and Rochester (not sure how they are in the metro but whatever).
2006 - Teams that should not have been at state
- Owatonna, Moorhead ( the south and 3rd North seed)
(white bear the 3rd best team in state not in the show)
At least at this point, If a team is coming from the south they have to beat someone to get in, and If there is going to be a third team from the north (Duluth East this year) they had to win to get there. That is until...........
Next year it will be different Districts 10-12-11 so that puts 15, 16 and 5 together. It will be district 6 with a walk into state next year.
08-09 has (16-11-12) (10-15-3) (6-8-2)ouch and (1-4-5)(2 south west teams) in state this year (yawn...who is getting screwed this year)
09-10 has (11-2-12) (3-5-4) (8-6-1) (15-16-10)
so apparantly Dist 10 becomes a northern District and District 6 never plays north of the 494 loop.
My final word: This will be the most competitive state tourney in years. North, South, Metro.... whatever all the teams there are good for the first time in years

Chuck, your wisdom speaks well...
MN Hockey is doing it right....
The round robin works... at least a teams gets three games and can screw up one and not be totally out...
Now Chuck post the overall rankings... we are all waiting on your thoughts...[/url]
overall

Curt, the Elks played well sunday, probably should be in Alex but a hot goalie can do wonders for a team. Overall rankings are on the REAL thread

Again, not complaining. Here, I'll say it in a different way : Team A could lose their first or second game of the tourney and end up playing 7 or 8 games to get the chance to go to state. The only point being made is that the way the VFW districts were run in district 8 allowed for a true champion and a true second. Perhaps another idea for MN Hockey to consider.

GR3343 - I think someone is trying to get a rise out of you!
FYI - MNHOCKEY36299 - Grand Rapids is not part of the range, but you sure talk like a cake eater.
