Yet another good start for the staff. 3 in a row.

Bonser: 3 innings, 2 hits, 3K, 0 BB.

Still not going to be overly excited, it's only spring, but it might be a step in the right direction for their confidence at least. That would be nice to see... get a little "swagger".

Everybody said that last year, too. They came out pitching like the Olsen Twins the first 50-60 games.

They didnt hit very well either.

We have become brainwashed I think. We think that if the pitchers give up 5 or 6 its an insurmountable tragedy.

It isnt for the good hitting teams. lets be one of them. HIT THE BALL!

If you score more runs everything will be fine.

That is why TR went out and signed Ken Harvey.

You're right, but I think the pitching was worse.

Evidently Matt Garza is ok after a novocain shot. Good news.

Being that Dutch is the official language of Sidney Ponson's native Aruba, allow me to send him a message in a word he'll understand...

"Vaarwel" (Good bye)

2 INN, 7 H, 4 ER

Ouch. Looks like his last chance to stick in the majors might be gone. Send him packing, if he makes the rotation over a young guy with potential like Garza or Perkins I would be awfully upset.

Have no fear, I'm back!

Was down in good 'ol Ft. Myers for the last week and got to see plenty of ball. Even made an appearance on FSN for those that were watchin  .

Ramon Ortiz looks really good. The only time he ran into a jam is when Morneau started exiting a little too early and Redmond had noone to throw the ball to after a dropped 3rd strike. Otherwise Ortiz looked very good.

Anyone have any idea where Casilla will start? I'd love to have him in the majors as the primary backup IF, but at the same time I'd want him playing everyday. He looked very good also, especially on defense. His batting could use some work, but he is a very quick little guy who can really run.

The "regulars" (aka starting lineup) looked good every game, but it was the bullpen minor leaguers who would give up the lead. Perkins didn't impress me much.

Denard Span will be a decent replacement when Hunter leaves after this year. Reminds me of Juan Pierre, doesn't have much pop or a great arm, but is very fast and can slap the ball around.

Glenn Williams impressed with the bat and played well at both 3B & 1B. Wouldn't mind seeing him on the roster.

Josh Rabe didn't do much at the plate, but he was a fun one to talk to. Scored points with me.

Punto was in the cage nearly every time I saw him and Bartlett was always right behind him. Encouraging.

Ponson should spend more time pitching instead of checking out women's upper-regions on his way out to stretch.

Jason Schmidt didn't show me much for the Dodgers. Glad we didn't go heavily in him based on how he performed.

The Yankees look great ($50 a seat to get in there and I got a deal). I'd say the AL is there's to lose.

Overall, fun trip (sucked having to miss the State Tourney though...) and got to see plenty of baseball. Can't wait for Opening Day!

Here's a headline from the sports section of Daily Manifesto.

"Rookie has a lot of Radke in Him"

Hey PB, How do you like them apples?

I just cant shake that guy. Well, this will please ChrisK to no end.

Slowey will change speeds like Radke but the problem was the biggest change in speed was the acceleration when bat hit the ball.

Hopefully the kid wont develop that neck problem for watching balls fly over the fence and in the gaps.

But hey, it looks like Boof will be fine, Perkins is making a bid, Garza has picked up where he left off and Santana will be Santana.

The bullpen is excellent. Fielding will be no problem.

So, what does that leave.....hmmm, cant think of anything right now...

Silva was Ok last night. Fun to watch a live baseball game on TV.

Rumor is that Garza wont be in the rotation. Itll be Santana, Boof, Ortiz, Silva , and Ponson.

I dont like that. I also doubt it will last. I dont think Silva is going to be able to do it. I think he was a fluke in 2005.

I agree. I don't care if Garza lacks experience in AAA as Terry Ryan alluded, does it really matter? He is a better pitcher than Ponson and gives us a better chance to win.

I really don't trust Silva at all. He's around solely due to his experience, but at some point you gotta gamble on potential over a pitcher who helped put us in a huge hole last year. His sinker just isn't sinking, and if he doesn't have that he's among the worst starters in baseball.

We got him as a reliever, got 1 year of starting out of him. Put him back in the pen and let Garza do his thing.

Garza is going to be the man by the end of the first month.

I disagree with trying to hurry Garza along. Not to say he is or isn't ready because I'm not his trainer, but I think giving him enough time in triple A to develop his full potential is the way to go. Even if these other pitchers aren't as good as he is, and I'm quite sure they're not, the're good enough to hang until Garza is ready.

I would rather see Garza get hammered and gain more experience than see Ponson get hammered then released.

I really don't think Garza would get hammered though. As long as his neck is ok, his only real problem is his mental toughness. He has to learn to control himself on the mound. He really only had trouble last season with his first couple of games. Once he calmed down, he was fine.
