Albert Lea will have a lot more tough competition in Section 1A. It will be tougher this year with Red Wing, Faribault, New Prague, and with all of the other teams added to the Section this year. However you people may think I'm a moron or something but Albert Lea has represented Section 1A 3 out of the last 4 years.

1. Roseau-maybe another ship
2. Edina- still young but should be very good
3. Hill-Murray-private
4. Centennial- very talented
5. Holy Angels-private choke artists
6. Duluth East-always good so why not
7. Benilde-St. Margaret's-private
8. Burnsville-return a good core
9. Blaine-disappointment at state so should look for redemption
10. Rosemount-solid last year played a very tough schedule(played 5 teams from this list)

Bash Brother got one thing right. As of right now, do not sleep on Burnsville. They have the potential to be a top 10 team all year long next year.

Roseau kids seem to buy into their system better than any other school, they will be the class of 8AA. Can't discount AHA, and Edina might go the whole year ranked first. Prediction for State seeds: Edina 1, Roseau 2, AHA 3, Duluth East 4.
that is a good statement about AA but its impossible for AHA and Edina to get seeds at state because they are in the same section. i got AHA making it out. theyll be very hungry after the past 2 years.
AHA will need better goal-tending (more reliable) if they want to make it out.

Cretin is very thin on goalies. STA's backup JV goalie is considering switching to Cretin to start on varsity.

EP will have a solid D Core returning and has a very underated goalie that should turn out to be one of the top tenders in the state

I doubt that they will even make it to state. I wish but they will but losing vranek( or what ever his name.) but if lee smith can get he mind together he could have a good team. look out for Ep in a couple years though.

If Lee Smith can get his mind right ? huh? dude, this guy does a decent job coaching pure athletic ability kids year in and year out. Problem with ep is not the varsity coach, what happens is at jr. & sr. year the pure athletic ability kids get lapped by kids that have had talent properly developed. Ep put's very few kids to the next level but does very well at the lower level's . Why ? pure athleticism of many kids (i.e.. they have numbers). Enjoy the squirt, peewee and bantam banner's. It is what it is. Don't blame the high school coach because the kids can't skate, pass and shoot past AAA Bantam abilities.

hes one of my best friends and it is true that hes switching next year but he's solid... when you can say that your sophmore year, you backed up AARON CRANDALL, one of the top 3 goalies in the state, yuove got some thing goin for you. the only reason he fot moved down to jv at almost the end of the season is that they have 2 goalies who are freshman this year just as good as him. dont underestimate him

can STA get a little more love? they are loosing 3 seniors: a fourth liner, and (my opinion) the 3rd and 4th defensemen. the jv team lost like 3 games last year and they are solid. STA has some unfinished buissness to take care of and as i mentioned in my last post, one of the best goalies in the state, A and AA.

I wouldn't say Crandall is top 3 in the state, yes he's good but I can name 3 off the top of my head that are better than him.

EP's defense should be one of best in state - Soderberg has played 2 years V and was in top 10 of '90 Adv 17's, Rush also has 2 yrs V and has been a strong player. Leddy and Thompson made '91 Adv 16 Natl camp. Not sure about goal tending, but would expect many low scoring games given their depth at D.

I thought Rush was going to Tonka. Someone told me that he was going there to play forward. Is that true???

Should be a strong D core. Leddy and Rush led their D core as sophomores. Played a lot, including special teams.

Soderberg keeps improving. Obviously, had a nice showing at Advance camp.

Thompson should be a top 4 D coming in as a sophomore.

EPs challenge will be at the forward position and goalie.

Question: Maybe Lee Smith should step away from the EP program?

If the youth programs have tremendous success why does this success not continue at the High School level? Comments, pro, con, etc?
