Goldy313 what is more impressive for Mankato West is their top three pitchers and leading hitter are all sophomores. They just did tryouts for the local 16 yr old VFW team and 11 of the 13 players are from the West side. They should be pretty good for the next couple of years.

Do you know why the I Falls vs. Rogers games wasn't I Falls vs. St. Cloud Apollo like it should have been?

Greenway had to leave to head back and attend the funeral of their athletic director, Jay Gould. Apollo then dropped out so all of the other teams could get in their three games.

I. Falls had the smallest high school baseball team ever. Half of their kids looked like junior high kids.

I wish I could have seen Cathedral match up with a team like Grand Rapids. Then again, with their play in their last four games, I'm glad they didn't play.

Looks like I spoke too soon. Cathedral embarasses #3 Minnewaska in the rematch 15-0.

I heard today that Festler dislocated his shoulder playing baseball and was done for the season. Is there any truth to that rumor?

Does anyone know what colleges are interested in Grand Rapids baseball player Gabe Wood? I've seen him pitch and he looked very impressive.

Greenway 9
Virginia 1

-Matt Estey 2 HR's

Dentral 6
Cloquet 0

-Noah Pauley HR

--I don't think too many schools have contacted Gabe Wood yet. He is only a junior. He is a great pitcher though. As a freshman he was 1-0 with a save in the state tournament. That win was a 6 hit shutout of Hopkins.

It was unintentional and I didn't even know when the game was being made up.

Nope, 13. Gabe would never talk about himself that way.

I was not accusing, simply making sure.

8AAA South Sub Section First Round

Little Falls 14
Becker 0 F/5

Rocori 8
Sartell 0

St. Cloud Tech 2
Sauk Rapids 1

St. Cloud Apollo 5
Monticello 3

I might be off by a run or two on some of the games but I know for sure those are the teams that won and the scores are fairly accurate.

The scores are correct, Goldy.

Shouldn't forget to mention Izaak Berglund pitched a no-hitter in the ten run rule shortened game for Little Falls.

Berglund will be headed to the Select 16 National camp.

Ben Hanowski also went 3 for 3 with two homeruns and a double while his brother Beau went 3 for 3 with a double or two.

Not bad for the hockey players out of Little Falls.

The Hanowskis are current Sobieski Skis. Don't know about Berglund.

In 1AAA - top team needs to beat bottom team twice on Monday to advance to final 4:

#9 Waseca
#8 New Prague

#7 Rosemount
#2 John Marshall

#6 Red Wing
#3 Lakeville North

#5 Hastings or #13 Northfield
#4 Mayo

#1 seed and #6 in the state Rochester Century scored 2 runs in 3 games to get knocked out of the section tournament.
