This isn't a Twins related item per se, but I think in some ways, they've been comparable in the recent past.
Check out
this article about the crap the Florida Marlins are pulling. Their entire 2008 payroll is $5 million
less than the revenue sharing they've taken in?! This seems to be far worse than even Carl Pohlad ever dared to do.
I can't believe Bud Selig would let them continue to get away with this, but I guess it's another example of his reign... Lose a World Series due to strike, threats of retraction, the Steroid Era, and allowing the Marlins to take MLB to the cleaners and screwing south Florida baseball in process. Unreal.

Well it's clearly Loria, but if Selig is going to allow the inmates to run the asylum, you can only fault Loria for so much.

Here's another non-Twins issue, but one that's not worthy of it's own thread...
Spring training can be fun - you see things you wouldnt normally see. Like this pitching line from SF Giants' pitcher Noah Lowry in yesterday's game:
1 IP, 0 H, 4 ER, 9 BB
Mr. McTabish is drafting him in the 1st round of the fantasy draft I'm sure.

I only made game 2 in 91.
Question for pb...
When Hrbek hit the slam in game 6 in 87, the Dome was so loud it seemed eerily quiet. You really couldn't hear "anything", but could feel how loud it was. Was it the same for Kirbys homerun? Or don't you get that sensation in the suite?

No. It hurt. It was painful it was so loud.
When Gladden hit his slam in '87, it felt the same way.

Carlos Silva got his substantial boobilies torn off yesterday by the Cubs yielding 6runs on 7hits in 3.1 innings of work. Don't worry Carlos, the checks will keep coming.

Who's everyone's breakout stud for the year?
I'm going with Mike Lamb. I think getting a whole season and being the full time guy will make a big difference.

For probably the first time ever, I'll agree with Empire. I have kept my eye on this guy's stats and he has always had a decent batting average, but Houston never seemed to utilize the guy much I don't think. I don't know his real potential, but I think he'll be effective in this line up as an every day player.

I don't know that this would be considered "breakout" since he likely won't even start the year in Minnesota, but I think (hope) that Garrett Jones can finally make an impact when he gets a shot. He's too big and too strong to be a ineffective as he's been. It's time to get going.

Well, I dont know what to think.
The team that they put on the field everday may be better than last year even without Hunter.
I think for the first time in awhile they may have added some guys who can play.
Monroe looks like he might have something left. Probably not 20 plus homers but he could contribute something, which would be a change. Id pencil him in at DH and end the Jason Kubel era.
Lamb and Everrett will make the team better too.
Young will be good. Unrealistic to expect him to put up Hunter numbers this year but you gotta like his appraoch and talent.
But the starting pitching is going to be a real issue. Liriano isnt even close yet and might not be until well into the season if at all this year.
Boof is Boof , Baker is out and Livan isnt getting any younger. Slowey will have his moments but wont be consistent and Balckburn is unproven. Perkins may have to start some games.
That being the situation they will have to find a way to win with defense and.....they'll have to do something else....er, ah , I cant think of it right now.....lemme see now,......... ah , what else willl they have to do?
