Everybody knows the kids that get the free passes to the elites and the selects, but they are just like every other kid out there who wants to play. The ones that should be called out and questioned are the coaches, evaluators, on why, what, or who (as in there buddies) was there decision based on.

You should never post again!

Your apology is not worthy; think before you post!

I agree. The real problem is the money trail. Follow the money. Not pure bribery but the next best thing.

I just find it amazing this "Elite League" can have players that didn't play a single minute of varsity hockey. And to add to that, players that didn't post more than 5 points for their respective teams. Blows me away.

I am from hibbing and do know virginia kids and i for one agree about Hendrickson, but Westin did have a big year for that team and even though i hate Virginia with a passion I will vouch for the kid and say he is a tremendous player. Hendrickson has potential as he is only going into tenth grade. I for one say Drew Vechell was the best defenseman there and will be the best defenseman in section 7A next season.

That's a pretty tall order. There's most likely at least 6 or 7 better candidates for defenseman of the year in 7A. One of them resides inbetween GR and Hibbing and wears green.

I would have to agree with jacket08 on this one, I seen him a couple times last year, better than anything on Def. marshall will have, and the greeny kid if your talking about the one who gets everything handed to him, is not nearly the player he is, veshells a team player that can play both ends of the rink well, a little to cocky, probably. I would like to see at least 6 or 7 names you think are better, maybe i can't think of some 7a kids. I think he would be in the top 4 or 5 of all 7a and 7aa. just an opinion.

Not going to debate, I just have different thoughts about what makes a player good than you do. There's a place for cocky, not arrogance.

You spend so much time talking about who didn't get picked for the league what about the players who work hard, stay in their communities, wear their school colors with pride, and took the risk to try out for this league maybe , once, twice and might have made it the third time.

They might play in programs with tough schedules so they don't score 10 pts a season, but they have to compete evey night.

I know, I only post once in a while and don't have an award for 10 million posts this year but I do read what is written and you have some people who post alot and don't say much.

Congrats to those who made the teams, your play will quiet the skeptics.

Counting down the days to watching some great hockey from some of the best players in Minn.

i'm not sure if this is the case with any of the players, but there are some players that may face injury trouble during the season or in try-outs and end up playing JV and playing most of the year hurt but they still might be elite players.

Team great plains seem like they should be pretty good... Have any of you heard of Lucas Dillon? Ive seen him play once or twice and I think he'll be pretty good when it comes to season opener.. what do you think?

No family tie's here. This league is a great idea to get boys exposure and keep them home. I was around it a few years back and seen right away that teams had 10th graders playing. No knock on them but I feel this league would do a better service to all if you limited rosters to seniors and maybe just 2 Jr's per team. Does anyone really believe that in Minnesota you can't field quality team's with this make-up. Elite-2 can then be made up of Jr's and a few sophmores per roster. And finally have a sophmore league as well. Correct me if I'm wrong but I've heard now that the 10th and 11th graders are getting exposure and then leaving their senior year's defeating the whole idea of staying through high school.

Wow, simply amazing how a player like Blake Doerring can be going to Vermont and playing D1 but he's not good enough for the Elite league?

Blake Doerring is not one of the top defensemen in the Metro area let only the State. I would agree that the Elite 1 league misses out on lots of talent and makes some decisions that are confusing in terms of the players they select, but they did not miss this one. Blake is a very smart young man and I am sure this played a role in his going out East to play. Congratulations to Blake and his family, but I am very surprised that someone believes he is a D1 type player.

The Elite League is a joke. It should be manditory that you at least have had VARSITY experience to be in it. Or more than a 10 point season. I don't know, that just makes sense to me.

Sometimes a player may choose NOT to participate in the league due to possible conflicts with a fall sport. I know that some play football/soccer AND play in the Elite League, but there are some who are qualified but choose not to conflict with either sport.

I would also like to add that for all who say this league is a joke, you are more than welcome to put something like this together and make it better. I know the people involved in the Upper Midwest High School Elite League, and they have put their blood and souls into doing a quality job for these kids. So many are on the outside looking in and making judgements based on nothing more than heresay. It's a difficult process but for the most part it works.
