FINAL

The headlines today read that the bullpen let another one slip away. Errors have been the problem since Saturday, not the bullpen.

I think it was a team effort.

You know, it's a team game and it's just not fair to blame only one member of the team, gosh oh golly.

Jeepers, the hitters didnt do so well either , you know.

I think that they dont play too well on the road and so they might not win enough games to make the playoffs.

What do you fellas think?

Hey Wally, wait for me.

I dislike getting rid of Lamb for just this reason. Buscher has a better bat but is brutal in the field. His misques hurt the Twins Sunday and he only has a .932 Fielding %, lowest of any Twins regular by more than 30 points. September 1st with it's expanded rosters is less than a week away, cutting Lamb isn't the answer. Buscher's time will come but it shouldn't be in a pennant race, especially when the Twins have to pay Lamb anyways. He, Buscher, is a valuable assett and a nice bat off the bench but he's scarry in the field and this team doesn't have the luxury of giving away baserunners. I like having the option of using Lamb as a defensive replacement and getting the occasional start. An infield featuring both Casilla and Buscher has to give the Twins pitchers ulcers, at least it does give them to me.

It's based on a program that rates chess players but uses who you beat and when you beat them to make predictions. So beating Baltimore in April when they were good is better than beating them now when they stink and losing to a Seattle team looking forward to the offseason really hurts. If you click on the Twins there is a day by day chart of the Twins chances, notice how they dropped from a 78% of making the playoffs after beating the Angels twice to a 64% chance after booting away two of the last three games.

Another interesting Twins note, the White Sox are paying only $600,000 for Griffey plus a minor league pitcher, that's nothing.
Based on what he's given the Sox so far, they overpaid. In 19 games: .254 - 1HR - 8 RBI (3 of them came in 1 game).

Griffey isn't really going to add much to that lineup, and he wouldn't have helped the Twins much either.

Sign Bonds.........Barry Bonds....in a month he would be the 3rd leading home run hitter on the Twins and have one of the most feared lineups in baseball. With there current lineup and pitching they have no chance but to tease you like they have all year long!

You see that little one in the bottom of the sixth, that is what you call runs after runs. This has been driving me nuts ALL YEAR.

The Harvest Resumes Today.

And now the offense has decided to go dead.

Thats been a problem for a long time.

You cant keep scoring runs the way they do. Nobody is that good at it.

Eventually the 2 out 3rd single of the inning to score a run or 2 isnt going to happen.

This is why homerun hitters make a lot of money. Its not just the entertainment value.

HIT THE BOOFIN BASEBALL

You can talk about defense and the bullpen all you want but the inconsistent offense of this team has been an albatrose for years.

Sure they've made some errors but everybody does. When the O shuts down there is no room for mistakes. Sure Nathan gave up one run the other night but it was only the second run of the game. The O couldnt score 3 vs a guy with a 7.00 ERA?

Yah gotta be kiddin me.

The way I got it figured out is either UpNorth or myself will get knocked out of the contest first.

8-losses and I'm done.
14-wins and UpNorth is done.

Whos it gonna be? Side bet UNS

well, i sure hope i'm out first.

But, the way things have been going lately i can't say i'm too confident that we'll win 14 before we lose 8.

Twins concede a run in the 4th to turn a DP. Can't do that with these bats, get the infield in, check and go one Gardy. "This game is getting late early" (Yogi)

Span and Casilla and Mauer aboard, very interesting.

Come on Justin, do what Carlos Quentin, Alexei Ramirez, and seemingly everyone else on the White Sox have done all stinking year. Big Fly time with many men on.

Nope, fly ball and ground ball yield one point.

All square through 5.5.

Will the runs after runs effect rear its ugly face again?

Indeed we do, we have runs after runs as Mr. .215 delivers a big two out RBI single.

That's it for Blackburn and that's it for me, too old and tired to finish off Left Coast games nowadays.

Still time for another bale if they hit the boofin ball!

20 bales in the barn
19 bales needed
25 bales still in the field

As you can see, there's still enough in the field, but can they get it in undercover before the sun sets.
