He was the player that gave the Elk River fans the finger after Elk River scored the 6th goal of their smothering of MGrove at Regionals.

Wasn't there so I can't confirm or deny that.

After Centennial got destroyed by ER in districts, and ended the year 0-4 against them, I have a little resentment and must admit I wasn't sad to see they lost to Wayzata.


D10 still alive though - I'll go with Blaine vs. Wayzata finals and Blaine is your state champ.

Wonder what classy commentary from the parents on the other side of that glass would have motivated such a response from a 7th grade kid. Pretty embarassing. Nice to see class won out on Sunday.

Back on topic. I like Roseau to play Blaine in finals. Not sure if Edina or Wayzata can get by a well rested and hot Roseau squad.

I feel sorry for the kids not making the state tourney. They put up a very good squad. However, I am quite relieved that we won't be seeing anymore of the Elk River parents this season. Game after game, just constantly rude to the refs, obnoxious, and overly loud. Not to mention cheering like they won the super bowl after they've scored their 8th goal in a blow-out.

who won the tournament? how did blaine do?

After watching Roseau in the north tournament, I can't see them being beat. 10 to 0 over Duluth East???

3 of their 4 losses came in their 4th, 6th and 7th games of the season while playing city teams that were playing there 16th, 14th, and 13th games of the season and had been practicing while the Roseau boys were out deer hunting (yes, northern boys have many other things to do other than just play hockey). That is not the same team you'll see this weekend. They've hit full stride at just the right time.

Also, be careful of the MN Hockey Rankings. They put too much emphasis on strength of schedule. City teams are naturally going to rank high in this system since they continually play other good teams. A team can actually lose ground in the rankings by thumping a not-so-good team.

I don't think it will happen, but any team that ends up within 3 of Roseau should consider it a huge success.

...and no, I'm not a Roseau fan.

After it’s all over, and the city teams are trying to find answers I recommend that you merge more. Your method of focusing on a handful of early developers out of enormous programs in the only way us other northern small towns have been able to catch up.

We in the cities can learn a lot from the Roseaus of the world. Instead of having tryouts in September, why not let kids finish their fall activities before hockey season begins. An alternative would be to have open hockey in September and October that one can come and go to as their other activities dictate. It will reduce the cost of the sport and give kids down here more balance in their lives.

I don't think Edina will make the Finals. They did not look like a top 10 team at regions.

Agree whole-heartedly! How many teams seemed to experience a lack of effort and more disciplinary issues as the season wore on? Hockey season is too long for some kids, even some A players.

100% right on! Amazing how the parents were living there life through there child. They walked around like they were unbeatable, but yet they had nothing to do with the outcome. This team had talent, but unfortunately for the opponents fans all they remember is how the parents displayed themselves. Not to get off board, but the Rogers A Bantams parents were somewhat identical and the end result wasn't so boastful anymore

Couple of good quotes! Not only is the winter season long, then you add all the AAA Summer hockey and it's crazy. I can see as the players get older the need to play more, but many of these players don't get a break. Kids need to get away from the game for awhile, even tho the parents don't want to.
