Yeah you can make the argument that the game was kinda dirty and hard played, but its playoff hockey, what do you expect? You also cant really say that it went both ways because once we got up by 4 your players starrted taking runs and would still hit after the whistle. A completely innocent play with our best, and most cool headed player turned into a checking from behind 3 seconds after the whistle that could have possibly ended his season, and wait...the player did nothing before hand to provoke it. Mixed in i also saw quite the display of sportsmanship; from the breaking of a stick over the baords after the fourth goal to straight up hitting your stick against the glass as hard as possible, your team really showed people how to play hockey.
"I know for a fact that an Edina parent started yelling at an Elk River parent for moving in front of his camera, and the fans got rowdy. Also you forgot the fact that the Edina player flicked our fans off."
This is also pretty funny because yes your coach did call him that (why else would he be so upset then) and if he didnt Sit said he had heard it from multiple kids on your team..that was his final breaking point. The best part of what you said is that our player flicked your fans off, it was because YOUR PARENTS were flicking him off as well. If i were from Elk River id be completely embarrassed to have parents like yours. One thing i forgot to add last night that i found out today was the one of your parents had the nerve to grab our player that got kicked out by the jersey and call him a "punk". Maybe he should take a look at his own team first. Call me a whiner if you want but im just telling the embarrassing truth.
btw cant wait to play you guys in the quarter finals, we'll see if you can play with anyone

I'd be embarrassed too nipeshow. That parent should have charges filed against him. Aren't you glad we live in nice towns with classy parents?

Am I the only one who thought the goal went off the crossbar and out?
I was standing even with the goal line.
But nonetheless, great game to both teams and congratulations on your state birth

Well I'm going to make this known right now I am a player from Elk River, in the Edina game it was very poorly officialed both ways. The reason why the game was called is because a player on our team asked the chief of officials how much edina payed the refs. Our coach did not call an Edina player a chink. The way the game ended was pretty bad, but all these accusations going around calling our coach and team classless? The game was out of control from the drop of the puck in the third period, and the chippiness went both ways. I know for a fact that an Edina parent started yelling at an Elk River parent for moving in front of his camera, and the fans got rowdy. Also you forgot the fact that the Edina player flicked our fans off. Todays game vs SLP got us firewd up, we played with class today. I don't understand how we get accused of being classless when a player from SLP spit on one of our players and than started to maul our goalie, throwing multiple punches. I don't give a damn what you have to say about this, we know we can play and compete with all of you. See you at the state tourney. -poweraid
Obviously you guys can't play with Edina. You guys have been cheap all season long so don't pretend you guys are the good ones here. Speaking of out of control: your teams mouths....you guys are an embarrassment.
Obviously our team can play with any team, hence why we are playing at the state tourny. I guess we will see in two weeks just who we can play with. We have some big wins and if we have been so cheap how did we get as many fairplay points as we had?
For the record, I didn't think the Elk River players were particularly cheap. They played tough - it's JGA, what do you expect? Yes, the referees made some poor calls, some in Edina's favor. HOW IS THIS ANY DIFFERENT THAN ANY OTHER HOCKEY GAME? And yes, of course Elk River players belong in the state tournament because they earned it. We will see who is the better team in two weeks.
DIRECT, FIRST-HAND OBSERVATIONS (Would you consider these to be "facts"?):
I was sitting next to the Edina guy with camera. He didn't yell at anyone for getting in his way, even though several people tried to block his view. Perhaps these obstructors didn't want their fans' behavior to be posted on youtube. He did stand his ground and continue taping the game.
Like always, I am sure that there were many reasonable Elk River fans present. Some of the Elk River fans, however, need to be reminded that this is a family event. I heard many four letter F words from teenage girls, dads and moms directed at Edina fans, Edina players and the referees, and one mom referred suggested (in front of her young daughter) that Edina fans purchased explicit sexual acts for the referees. One dad used the phrase "kill the f___" as he leaned over the glass, and another said something about fighting one of our parents in the parking lot after the game. It was embarrassing. Were these behaviors classless? You decide.
I don't claim to know what happened on or what was said from the bench, but it was apparent that the ER coach was told to leave. When he refused, the officials called the game.

Eden Prairie 3
v.
White Bear Lake 0
White Bear played well, even through the first period, 2 0 EP after two.
Watched the Tonka v. Lakeville game, really fun to watch. Gingerkid you guys did it! It's tough to see a talented Tonka team go home.
I have a feeling that a lot of people will be at the elk river quarter final.

Poweraid,
You lost 4-0 and you say you can compete and what not because you made it the state tournament. This isn't high school hockey where there are a hundred teams and making it to the state tournament is actually an accomplishment. There are something like 22 JGA teams in the state. More than a third make it to state. Historically there are always about 3-4 teams at state that stand out and can actually play, if that many at all. Congrats on the state berth, but it doesn't mean you can compete with everyone. I suggest you let your play do the talking in a couple weeks, and maybe you and ER can gain some respect back.

Yes, we lost to Edina 4-0, but the game was a lot closer than the score we had multiple scoring chances and the Edina goalie stood on his head. If you don't think we are a good hockey team and can't compete come to the game. We will see than.

I'm not going to deny the fact that Edina and Wayzeta are the cream of the crop, obviously look at there records they haven't lost in regular season play. I'm just saying that if you count us out you could be surprised. We know what we are in for and we are ready to prove a lot of people wrong. Good luck to everyone in State.

I made my user name in honor of the entire elk river team. The fact that Elk River thinks they have any chance to compete in the state tournament is comical. if Elk River plans to advance past the first round of the state tourney i think the first thing you should do is sign up for skating lessons, if in the two weeks from now to state you miraculously learn to skate then maybe with a little devine intervention and serious luck youll have a chance to advance past the first round. although highly unlikely if the entire edina team comes down with a case of SARS this game could be interesting to watch. Its no wonder Elk River cant play a controlled game of hockey given that half of their parents and fans are worse than the players themselves. Were sitting here laughing at your attempt to justify your actions and in no way does it make you any better at hockey. This is an ode to the forth line benders

I would like to say congratulations to all the teams that made it to state. The regional tournament was a blast to watch with a lot of games that could have gone either way. I wish the teams best of luck in state. This has one of the best seasons to be a part of because any of the top 15 teams that made it to regions were good teams and any given day could beat any team. The state tournament should be a blast to watch. Wish Blaine could of made it but all in all it was a good season to come back from after last season for them. Hope to see you all next season.
