During the pre-game those team strategy bullets are put up on the tv screen and one of them said the East goalie had to play well, so I wonder if they were implying Jo Jo was kinda weak? However, that glove save up high with his pads stacked might be the save of the tourney.StayAtHomeD wrote:East Goalie better tighten things up.
East was the better team for the whole game besides the last minute of the first period and first minute of the second. East allowed four goals in under two minutes of play. Goals allowed in the first: 16:10 & 16:44. Goals allowed in the second: 00:18 & 00:56. The goal off the face-off was very weak IMO, East needs to tie the guy up on the draw. It was a nice draw by the HM center-men but c'mon East tie him up! I also thought that East did a poor job of back checking.east hockey wrote:5-3 final.
Well, not surprised but it was tough watching them give up a two goal lead.
Pioneers certainly buried their chances when they had 'em. Props to them.
So, on Saturday night I can go watch UMD play Colorado College.

Hill-Murray had that quick strike ability which hurt the Hounds very badly. So far as East losses go, this one doesn't bother me. I didn't expect them to get to State (certainly not at the start at the season when I considered what they'd lost from last year), and they put up a good battle. Time for them to take out their frustrations on North tomorrow.BigWorm wrote:East was the better team for the whole game besides the last minute of the first period and first minute of the second. If I were a Hounds fan I would be upset, It's the state tournament and they should've won the game, but had a two minute let down which cost them. I can see your argument but East could've very easily won this game regardless of who they lost from last year. Who knows what they could've done vs. Tonka, I think it would've been a close game. Will Welinski be back next year?east hockey wrote:Hill-Murray had that quick strike ability which hurt the Hounds very badly. So far as East losses go, this one doesn't bother me. East is a favorite to win the section year in and year out. The only team in the section who had a chance of knocking out East in my opinion was ER you can also argue that Andover could've also. Previous years contenders for the title were, East, Rapids, Cloquet, and ER. The section has been way down the last two years and we all know by midseason the Sophomores Randolph plays improve dramatically every year. East has such a great program it's crazy how you think its amazing they made it to state this year yet only had 5 losses coming into today. East will continue to be a top notch program every season even if they do lose a couple guys to D1, Juniors, Ann Arbor, etc.mj79 wrote:BigWorm wrote:If I were a Hounds fan I would be upset, It's the state tournament and they should've won the game, but had a two minute let down which cost them. more bummed out over anything.. Just for the fact that HM took advantage of a 2 minute slump, and east never got control again.. HM IMO didnt play all that great AT ALL in the 1st, but Im glad east showed up to play and made it the best 1/4 game of the tourney by far..
Congrats hounds, Tough draw at state, but you proved alot of ppl wrong by just getting there this year

Time for a new coach?dulutheastfan wrote:Can East win in the Xcel anymore from losing the past few years in the schwan cup from last year at state to this years schwan and state it won't end they played very well in the 1st thats east's kind of hockey but from going to there games when i was in hs to watching them on tv there is something that has not changed and thats when they get up on a team they lay back and get chippy, turnovers, and etc all of those mistakes end in bad results so anyway hopefully they can do something with lakeville north and get something out of this state tourny..
