That was missed by about .2 of a second... WOW!!!! The play clearly showed the blurry puck was still in front of the crease with the clock at 0:00..
The crowd is fantastic, and now my question from the other thread about the atmosphere is answered.. It's ALL about the kids being in the lower bowl where the microphones are....... THIS is an EVENT!!

Unreal game. No way this game goes more than five minutes in OT with the way the third period was. Probably a lot less than five minutes.

H-TOWN!!! WOW... Classic! 7-6 Hermantown, reminds me a lot of the Cloquet-East semifinal in 2008, back and forth and a very high scoring game. Unanswered goals were key in both this win for Hermantown and for Cloquet in 2008.

Congrats to Hermantown. Condolences to Mahtomedi. Nice that they knocked off STA to get to state.

Very exciting game. But I couldn't believe how Maht defense doesn't know how to take the body? Breakaway after breakaway. Makes for a fun game to watch though. Whew.

Like I said before this game shows how good Hermantown really is. Such a deep team, Krause didn't have the greatest game of his career by any means, and the Hawks still managed to pump in 7 goals against a "big game" goalie. A great game to kickoff semifinal Friday. Good luck to the Zephyrs in the third place game, they played very good today as well.

Didn't get it either. One play its a 1-on-3 and the guy still comes right in on goal.

It's one thing to say you need to play physical versus Ben Marshall, and it's another to actually do it - on the offensive zone. His vision and ice awareness are as good as it gets, and you rarely catch him with his head down. He's too elusive and takes great angles when rushing the puck, and uses his speed variance to his advantage.... when a player thinks they have Marshall lined up, the Ben shifts to another gear, and uses his edges to escape.
On the other hand, Hermantown will need to crash Marshall along the defensive boards, and in front of the net, as he's not the strongest physically. Marshall is very good at taking the stick away from players in front of the net, but he will have his issues with guys Krause's size. Unfortunately for as good as Krause is in the corners and behind the net, Hermantown needs to get him in front of the net.
Zurn and Adams from Mahtomedi can just flat out shoot the puck.
My pregame analysis was pretty accurate... It is amazing, as Wormie stated, that Krause wasn't a huge factor, but it was clear he spread the ice for his linemates... I thought a guy with his size would be better suited in front of the goal, but with him being outside, that freed up Comnick to get rebounds and make things happen..

He is a nice kid too so that is nice. Wonder what she would have said if he said it was kind of a let down and that his 4th goal this year was way better

Don't they think before they spit out a question like that? I thought my 7 year old was bad when it comes to not having a filter between his brain and his mouth.
Now if Warroad can pull it out so we can have an all North final. That was a great game.

MAHTOMEDI WERE CHEATED!
In the last second of the third, the kid from Mahtomedi clearly got the shot off before time elapsed and the horn sounded. It should have been a goal!
I don't understand why when they reviewed it, they kept looking at whether the puck crossed the goal line before time ended. Because that isn't what is important. The important thing is like I said.. whether he got the shot off before time elapsed and the horn blew. And the answer to both questions is yes.. he got the shot off in time.
It's the same concept as in basketball.. if someone throws the ball up before time runs out and/or ref blows the whistle/horn sounds.. it's ruled a basket.
So why wasn't this same concept applied here - what am I missing?
Honest to God, I am so upset right now that I have sworn off the rest of the tournament. I wait for this all year because I love to see these kids play their hearts out. And it just makes me so upset to see the refs take a game away from these kids like that.

It ain't like basketball...the puck has to be COMPLETELY across the line before time expires for it to be a goal...makes no difference when he took the shot.

Warrior... the "concept" may be the same. But the rules are different.
I'm come from a basketball backround and even I know that a goal has to cross the line before the buzzer.
Unless of course, you're playing in a pee wee tournament in windom in the late 90s and the refs don't want the game to go into overtime. Then they call it a goal. But that's a different story, and I got over that long ago. (Or at least, I thought I had until now).

I'm sorry, but it does. If there's an empty net on the opposite side of the ice, and someone clears the puck from one end of the ice and the horn sounds just before it slides into the net.. it would be ruled a goal, my friend.
If not, then it sure as hell should be!
