They may have been rated #1 Sachichi, but they certainly weren't the best team in the state. CSC is one heckuva conference! It showed friday night when the goddy boys werent ready when the puck dropped.

This one comes up to Schletty in the nets. I have seen some pretty awesome games and some sub par games. If he has a "good" game I can see the Bears winning. When that first line has their heads in the game they are pretty tough on any goaltender.

Bears win 4-2. Wahlin puts in two

I've got Duluth East in this one. If WBL is gonna have any chance Schletty will need a strong performance in net, 3-1 Duluth East

the same conference that in 2008 produced both state champions...

Really? The conference Hill plays in had very little to do with the Loss! You are right, they weren't ready to play when the puck dropped!!!! But Hill-Murray Has been in 3 different conf. since the 80's. They played in the bad St. Paul City conf. Where only Johnson and Cretin were any good and then they were in the TC Suburban W/ Big Suburb schools Like WB, Blaine, Anoka, Stillwater, ext.... and they Usually won that Conference as well. MY point is that they may have been overrated this year but coming from a weak conference does not mean that you won't go far. 5 State Title games in the 80's. At least 2 in the 90's and 2 in the 2000's.

JUST WHAT EVERYONE HAS BEEN ANTICIPATING WITH EXTREME EXCITEMENT.....

GOLDFISHDUDE'S PREDICTION.

First, I want to sincerely congratulate two of my four favorite teams on making state, and it sucks Goldy Goldthorpe's sweaty jock strap they have to play each other in the quarterfinals.

First: East..

Great fans from this forum. You're like long distance relatives.

Next.. WBL... have a lot of fond memories with the parents, and I thank all of you who have put up with my behavior.

Coaching: Mike Randolph (East) vs Tim Sager (WBL)... Both have endured much scrutiny and mutiny over the way they have run the programs. Randolph does it every year, with one of the toughest schedules in the state, year-in-year-out. He gets the kids to play when it is needed most. A lot of experience at State.

Sager... don't like him.. I call him Bozo.. but I credit him for getting the team ready to play when it was needed most. He had a 3-year plan, and it worked. Won a NCAA National Championship as a Wisconsin Badger under legendary coach Bob Johnson. If only he coached like Badger Bob!!!

EDGE Randolph

Specialty Teams:

East : Power Play at a very good 33% and a respectable 85% penalty kill.
WBL : PP unit at 38% and penalty kill has improved to 78% and has played well during sections and has clicked at the right time.

EDGE: WBL is just too hot right now on all phases

Individuals:

East relies on three top scorers.

Trevor Olson 20 G, 35 A = 55 pts
Jake Randolph 27-25= 52 pts
Dom Toninato 24-27= 51 pts

In nets, JoJo Jeanetta is big-game tested.. Posted a 1.70 GAA and a nifty .917 save %

WBL also relies on it's Big 3... All honorable mention All-State by the St. Paul H-M Pioneer Press..

Brandon Wahlin 27-26 = 53 pts
Mac Jansen 33-12 = 45 pts
Max Birkinbine 16-16 = 32 pts

Jared Schletty - stood tall under a pressure situation vs H-M. If he can get thru that game, he should be fine vs East. 1.87 GAA and a .910 Save %.

EDGE: EAST is just a little deeper in overall talent, and the tougher schedule makes this team more prepared.

Nightlife:

East - Saratoga
WBL - White Bear Bar

EDGE: Saratoga and it ain't even close.

SO..... with the drum roll........ I am ready to make my prediction...

I don't want to get beat up by the WBL parents, nor do I want to get banned by Karl or Lee from this forum. Since my prediction record has improved to 4-447 with my selection of Mac Jansen to get the game winner for WBL over H-M, I want to end my season on a winning streak.

I, therefore, will refuse to make a prediction, because I don't want to jinx either team.

Good luck to both teams and enjoy the ride.

Good analysis of the teams... Im sorry Duluth East but it seems like Mac Jansen Birki Wahlin schletty all step up at presure time and at the big stage i would expect nothing less... If duluth wants to win this they need to stay out of the box... noone wants to see jansen wahlin birki on a PP

You WBL fans are funny.... one big win gives you all this confidence..... you do know what happens when an over-confident team plays against a relaxed balanced team, right?

Jansen has 36 goals this season(2nd most in 2A) on 2nd line its gonna come down to him tomarrow... wahlin and birki can shut down duluths first line ...And noones over confident just confident... The bears have the most underrated team out of anyone noones said anything good about them all year... Its gonna be a good game but (shack) noones miles ahead of anyone IT WILL SHOW TOMARROW

You young bucks need to do more research before you go spouting off. :) They were/are not the same school, in fact, if you had done your research, you would know that WBL lost to Osseo in the round of 16 in the 1982 section tourney. Why would they get credit for Mariners success when they didn't even make it to the Quarterfinals of their own SECTION tourney in 1982?
