Larry...you started this thread with much fanfare/opinion/agenda...wondering how you're feeling about your new coach?
Let's not worry about my opinion or anyones going forward though I've heard positive things (never met him). He deserves a clean slate and the full support of everyone just as any new high school coach deserves.

This is like 1/6 of the coaches in girls hockey. Arent there about 120 teams. Wow!

The recent experience in the boys' program at Roseville should make you realize the high turnover isn't a surprise. In fact, 1/6 seems low--there will be more by October. Even if there are only one or two rotten apples in every barrel of parents, they can make a coach's life miserable.

Steve Huglen named new Roseau girls coach. Steve, a local attorney and former Ram himself, has a long coaching resume and last year guided the 14U team to a second place finish at state. Good luck Steve!

Here is the best guess from past posts. If we are in the 120 team range it looks like we are closer to the 20-25% turnover range yearly.

2012-13 = 20
2011-12 = 29
2010-11 = 26
2009-10 = 12 (posting ended in July could be partial list)
2008-09 = Couldn't find a thread with this years turnover
2007-08 = 14 (partial list?)
2006-07 = 36
2005-06 = 30
2004-05 = 21

Nice to see a 50/50 split of men and women filling these jobs! Historically there were so few females and now more seem to be returning to coach. Also - some great guys are truly invested in growing the girls'/women's game. It'll be interesting to see how the remaining positions fill out and congrats to the new coaches and their teams! :D

Quite a few assistant coach positions open...

2011-12 = 29
2010-11 = 26
2009-10 = 12 (posting ended in July could be partial list)
2008-09 = Couldn't find a thread with this years turnover
2007-08 = 14 (partial list?)
2006-07 = 36
2005-06 = 30
2004-05 = 21
I assume many of those numbers came from this thread and walking back through its links from prior years: (I believe the 05-06 number is off and should be 25 and not 30)
ghshockeyfan wrote:Here's link to last year:

I think there were 26 the yesr prior to last based on this post within that linked thread above:
ghshockeyfan wrote:
allhoc11 wrote:I started the thread last year, and it looks like some schools have started the search already.

Last year there were 26 coaching changes, it will be interesting to see what this off-season brings.
Here's the link to the thread from last year:

http://www.ushsho.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=22907

And some past years info.:
ghshockeyfan wrote: Here's the 2009 off-season thread for openings coming into the 2009-10 season:

http://www.ushsho.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=19699

Never really captured anything from the end of filling posiitons in 2007 (headed into 2007-8 thru the above)

And here was the thread with 2004-2007 openings (heading into the 2004-5 through 2007-8 seasons):

http://www.ushsho.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9456

From 2004-2006:

2006 = 32 of 124 jobs opened this year (25.8%)
2005 = 25 of 122 jobs opened this year (20.5%).
2004 = 21 of 122 jobs opened this year (17.2%).

.
.
.

I haven't followed as closely, but the turnover seems to be down. This is good for the game.
