Well, there are different colleges within the UMN that have different tuition rates, but I'd imagine UMN regardless.Mite-dad wrote:What is more expensive, BSM or UM? Just curious.
I can tell you for sure that the U of M is much more expensive than BSM, if your kid lives on campus, as most choose to do. If that's the case, figure on close to double, or more if it's the Carlson School.Django wrote:Benilde tuition does not cover room and board, so don't add that into the estimate of the cost of the U.
I would be pretty sure that the UofM tuition is less than Benildes $12,000.
$20,000/yr for tuition, living, foodMNHockeyFan wrote:I can tell you for sure that the U of M is much more expensive than BSM, if your kid lives on campus, as most choose to do. High school kids are presumably living with their parents and don't have to pay for lodging/food, but almost all U students live on campus now, so I don't know that you can really ignore that. And it's not a wash, as housing a student on campus costs more than housing your child in the house that you already have.Django wrote:Benilde tuition does not cover room and board, so don't add that into the estimate of the cost of the U.

And it depends on which school at the UMN. The General College might cost that much, but I assure you that the Carlson School of Management and other schools are more.xy wrote:High school kids are presumably living with their parents and don't have to pay for lodging/food, but almost all U students live on campus now, so I don't know that you can really ignore that. And the website I gave earlier is an official U of M site which pretty clearly says tuition is $5,825 a semester, which gets you very close to Benilde's $12,600 for a full year; tuition is not all you pay at the U, though, as there are costs and fees (the student service fee includes $25 a semester, I think, to pay for TCF Bank Stadium), in addition to books, so even if you exclude housing the U still costs more.
