The main problem is a team can only play a certain amount of games in a season. When SR was in the Rum River they had a bunch of nonconference games to fill out their season. Rum River had what 5 or 6 teams where as the CL has 8 or so. Playin each team 2 times adds some conference games and you have to cut somewhere. You are going to keep the teams you feel are your best games not sayin scc or ptown was bad but why would you drop breck when they are always at the top of the rankings?

great point, but if you had done your research, you woulda seen river lakes, proctor, fergus falls, detroit lakes, and hutchinson on the schedule in 2002-2003 (we'll give them Breck, Hermantown, and Lourdes...we'll even give them Owatonna the beniefit of the road trip)....

2A
Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... ldTimer at: 11/1/05 5:02 pm

if you do more research you'll find proctor was part of a package deal with hermantown since it was a fri night sat afternoon series SR goes up there one year and next is here and they were a section game , river lakes was in transition into the cl so SR had to play them which was 1 game. Fergus was a good team 2 years ago now why fergus dl and hutch are still on schedule i have no clue but like any team you have to have a few games to get your players confidence up and hopefully win. I think SCC should understand since there schedule is pretty much a joke with some of the teams on there.

Fergus is now a must on schedule since they are in the cl. I expect big things from SCC this year as the coach they have I believe is going to do good things there. He will work with those kids and have them ready for a good season. He was very good at getting kids to give everything they had i remember over at acceleration minnesota and i think he has what it takes to be a good coach. maybe he can get some better games for scc.

SCC's schedule vs. SR's Schedule

SR is in the CLC...when they joined that conference was good. Now, its just downright dreadful. SCC hopped in to a conference this year, and although its not good, they do get to play a traditionally strong Orono team (orono might be down this year too).

Seriously, you believe the CLC is "dreadful"? Considering SR moved there from Rum River, I would think they should be grateful for what they have.

scc schedule is going to be very tough this year but they are a tough team and will be able to make it through it and hopefully we will see them in the state tourney again this year

tough schedule what schedule are you looking at? You call prairie centre, delano, holy family, litchfeild good games? that is 8 wins right there anything less i think everyone could admit would be a failure. they do have some good games but come on you and i both know it is not a tough schedule.

lets get serious...

the schedule is just not very hard...but it is better than it has been in the past, sadly. A team thats been to 3 section finals and been to the state tourney should be able to get some tough teams on the schedule...

2A

scc does have a tougher schedule with some interesting games....a good one being them and St.Cloud Tech...if its anything like last years game it will be a good one

Not to burst your bubble, but SCC isn't the only A school playing St. Cloud Tech on their schedule. But, I suppose it is fair to believe SCC is upgraded to a little better (tougher) schedule adding Tech since they come from a very weak conference pool.

SCC has played tech for like, the last 4 or 5 years.
2A

I know....which is another reason I don't understand why that is what "toughens" up their schedule according to some posters....

The "why" is because most people who speak up don't have a clue as to what they're saying. The scheduling is SCC's biggest weakness, and they have to figure out a way to overcome it to move on.

denfelds best player in N-MN

Elliot, if Denfeld has the best player then why wasnt he picked to play in the Elite league invitational tournament this weekend? Just wondering.

If you're referring to Jake Johnson, no sophomores were picked it appears. I heard that they want mostly seniors, and then a few juniors. They put the top underclassmen on the alternate lists. If the web site is accurate, then Johnson was the top points player for his team, and the Schroeder kid (freshman) was one of the top two or three on his team but was named as an alternate.

These two kids are the real deal, and Johnson is probably one of the top three forwards (I say #1, but that's harder to prove) in section 2A. This section is represented by Crandall from SCC on the actual rosters.

Agreed scottparker... the reason that they take mostly older kids is because they are trying to expose them for juniors, college, and the nhl. From what i have heard, they put the younger kids as alternates to acknowledge that they are very good players, but that they want the older kids to get looked at first because they have less time left for future hockey plans

Sorry 2A teams

Being on a team I know that it is all pointless to talk State Touney. Everyone is playing to get in the section Final against Marshall. No one can touch them. SCC and D.D. are good teams, but they are just not to the caliber of D. Marshall. Saddly a prvt. school will win 2A again
