The rumor I heard is Holum has an injury and is likely out a couple weeks. We will see what develops.

The clock continued to run through multiple stoppages for pow wows involving officials. It was very confusing for the clock operator. What impressed me is that NEITHER coach wanted the clock stopped or time put back on to offset the runoff. It was beginning to be a bad game and rapidly becoming worse. To me it seems like the referees and coaches all recognized that and just wanted to get out of there.ryguyMN wrote:I thought the 3rd period of Edina and EP was a disgrace of HS hockey due to the combination of dirty hits by EP, lengthy arguments between coaches and officials, in running time mind you, officials not administering penalties swiftly, and end of penalty time administration errors with the confusion of running time and all the other chaos going on the ice. This all added fuel to the fire of allowing the game to get out of control. Coaches had a verbal argument at center ice in the handshake line, which I believe was in regards to some of the hits during the period.
I agree it was getting ugly. Fair points made. Better off just calling the game off, but officials probably have no authority to do so unless there is some extraordinary circumstance. All the time wasting just made a mockery of the game.O-townClown wrote:The clock continued to run through multiple stoppages for pow wows involving officials. Aside from the refs not assessing Jensen a penalty for the hit he put on Kozn...which was a vicious blindside hit (although Kozn put himself in a bad spot by toe dragging a guy & cutting to the middle up 7-1 after Kozn took a 5 on a similar hit to an EP player in the 1st period) & never saw Jensen coming for him...I thought they handled things as best as they could, because the game was totally OVER with 15 minutes remaining. Giles was clearly pissed about the hit, and hopefully Kozn will be OK (he was wobbly leaving the ice & left the game (headed to the locker room) All that said, at least on this given night, the final score pretty much represented the difference between the two teams...Edina dominated EP...ryguyMN wrote:I agree it was getting ugly. Thanks ryguy, your wife's quip made me laugh this morning.ryguyMN wrote:I thought the 3rd period of Edina and EP was a disgrace of HS hockey due to the combination of dirty hits by EP, lengthy arguments between coaches and officials, in running time mind you, officials not administering penalties swiftly, and end of penalty time administration errors with the confusion of running time and all the other chaos going on the ice. Perhaps it’s just the emotion of a rivalry game, or as my wife called it, “rich people problems”, while describing tonight’s game to her afterwards. MSHSL may want to consider hiring NHL officials for the second meeting. Bulletin board material for both sides already in place.
I will take Giles with the “one hitter quitter over Lee SmithO-townClown wrote:The clock continued to run through multiple stoppages for pow wows involving officials. There did seem to be an inordinate amount of odd man rushes after Cake went on the offensive. Maybe they were in point grab mode and forgot to get back, but the Elks chances and goals were earned.WestMetro wrote:I guess what I’m stilll wondering is how Edina give up 7 goals when next closest was 3 , and many were 0 or 1.
Taking nothing away from Elks
But Did anyone notice Edina Dmen regularly do a worse job of protecting Mackay by being late to arrive , or not blocking shots , or not keeping bodies out of the low slot ?
Or maybe Elks were just that much better on odd man rushes , and holding position low in their own zone to attract deflections?
Or just puck luck, or just an off night by Mackay?
Or big credit to Elks offense against arguably best D Corp in state?
I'll take Sky Low Low over Little Beaver via his signature dropkick.northwoods oldtimer wrote:I will take Giles with the “one hitter quitter over Lee SmithO-townClown wrote:The clock continued to run through multiple stoppages for pow wows involving officials.
