moorhead is only considered a northern team because it's north of the cities. it's right on the middle edge of MN. so why not just call them a mid-state team. HAHA the section 8 thing being with roseau and bemidji is why they are considered northern.<br><br>they aren't creating a bad name for the north either. just for themselves and their school. they still produce quality players that are successful at the next levels. <p></p><i></i>

Moorhead is a northern team. They are parallel with Duluth just on the opposite side of the state. <br>I don't see why people say Moorhead is not respected. They have probably the best youth program in the state. They have been in 6 state championships in the last 12 years. In this years championship there were 14,000 fans cheering for Moorhead and 4,000 for Holy Angels. <br>I believe it may be jealousy setting in for other teams.<br>The MHD/Roseau rivalry will pick up in the next couple of years. The games will bill close and fun to watch. <br>I'll still take the spuds the next two years as Section 8AA champs... <p></p><i></i>

THIS THREAD IS CRAP! What bad name for the North? I think the people on this site believe it is the views of the majority on here and that's not true. Most MN hockey fans don't even know about this site. North hockey is fine and so is Moorhead hockey. I watched them all year and they seemed like some pretty classy kids to me. and by the way BIRDIE the Moorhead bantams did beat Roseau in Regions. And before you say how good Roseau will be in a few years, I can remember being beat up by Roseau all the way up until we crushed them in the section finals 92' and 93'. <p></p><i></i>

I agree with you dreamer11. It seems that as you go up levels in hockey the competition gets tighter and tighter. Yet, with Moorhead it seems that they widen the gap as they get to highschool. A nice weightroom and great coaching have a lot to do with it.<br>The main reason is that Moorhead used to be a Football dominated school. Now all the top athletes are playing hockey first and then football or baseball. Some only concentrate on hockey alone. The tide has turned for the better and believe it or not Moorhead will dominate section 8 for years to come. <p></p><i></i>

Though, I would say that the Spud FANatics... love to fuel their own fire.... <br><br>1.Banner Talk- When the spuds finally win one, then their fans can put them on the peistal of greatness!!!<br>2.North Bashing- Is Moorehead a Northern team.... Moorhead is still 3 1/2 - 4 hours from the border. i wouldnt consider that northern. Duluth is still 3 hours from the border too. just because they are north of the cities (which is southern). get a clue and pull out a map people!! <p></p><i></i>
