I wonder how many other 7AA teams are practicing there this week. Wait the schedule says...NONE! Haha!
I wish we got out of school to practice back in my day....

Duluth schools are on break this week. Hence the unusual practice times.

And those that bring up this issue are ridiculed by some on this site. I suppose Andover could schedule a practice in the open slot.

That explains it...and here I was thinking athletics took precedence over academics at EHS
But the real question karl...when does East move their locker room to Amsoil? Tonight after the game?

Oh, they built a special one for East players when they designed the place.

1. Can someone get sticksave off this forum? He types like a middle school kid who doesn't understand punctuation and it's impossible to take anything he says seriously. I actually picture a kid with a stick in his hand and a bucket over his eyes running around in a crowded room, screaming and running into the wall repetitively.
2. Is there a home town advantage? Sure. It's easy to hate on the team that has won 5 years in a row, could the location have something to do with that? Sure. However, after playing hockey growing up I always found it easier to get up for a big road game then a home game. When it's a home game it's a lot of sitting around instead of leaving school at noon and joking around with your buddies on a bus for 2-3 hours and staying loose. These teams leave school at noon, at least I know I did for my section final game in the cities, in order to take "bus legs" out of the equation.
3. I now know what politics are really like, two very different sides and no matter what valid points are brought up by either side they are disregarded and swung with biases to make it seem like your way is the correct answer, regardless what the answer really is.
4. On a serious note, where would you put this game, Hinkley? Load the teams up with some Mandatory Tobie's and call it even or what? The most logical venue to house the sheer amount of people who come out to these games is Amzoil, and that is just a pretty simple fact.
5. I hate reading this talk every year, it's not going to change and cities people always seem to feel entitled. For the first time in their lives things don't shake out for them and someone needs to hear about it. Sorry daddy's money can't buy you this venue like it did that Mercedes you drive to school everyday.
6. People who actually want to watch hockey will not complain about this and will make the trek. That post above about leaving work early... that sounded like a negative connotation with it. Don't act like you enjoy work on this forum, everyone is looking for an excuse to leave early. Hell take Friday off with a "sick" day and enjoy your long weekend.
7. This is the most competitive 7AA has been in a long time, so can we get over this awful topic and enjoy the puck that's going to happen over the next couple weeks? We should all drink this in, at some point the talent level may disappear for all we know. So shut up and lets enjoy some good old fashioned northern puck make a 6th straight trek to the X in the form of the puppies.

DD, you lost all credibility with this post with the Mercedes comment. The schools in 7AA are for the most part hard working blue collar towns.
HAHA no kidding! If anybody is driving a Mercedes in 7AA it would be from Duluth's east side.
I don't understand why everyone thinks that if you go to Duluth East you are automatically rich. My parents aren't rich, I'm not rich, my brothers and sisters aren't rich, and our butlers aren't rich either. I don't get it.

Oldtimer didn't say that everybody who attends DE is rich. Just implied that the percentage of rich students within DE's enrollment is probably higher than the percentage at any other 7AA school.
You can say the same thing about Eagan. Median income within the high school collection area is probably a lot higher than DE's, but there's still plenty of us on the left side of that income curve.

Also, sticksave, just had a girl in my life who writes like that and it's always pissed me off, nothing personal. To all fans with a dog in this fight, good luck and go greyhounds.
OK that explains it. X's tend to do that. I work with lots of young adults and that style is what they use. Not to be a dick but there are some Andover kids that actually live on farms. They get some of the Ag area from Ham Lake. I actually hunt on land that belongs to a family whose kids go to Andover. Once again good luck too all. AND FOR GOD"S SAKE QUIT BUNDLING ALL THE METRO KIDS INTO ONE BRACKET. There are a few areas that are very influential. One in particular. Now they all drive Audi's or BMW's LOL

And this has in the past meant more East students and parents away from Duluth and instead in Vail, St. Lucia or Stowe, hence less East fans at the Saturday semi.

And let's not forget the door leading directly from Randolph's cushy film room straight to the refs' dressing area, through which the East booster club delivers some of its leftover caviar and absinthe before the game.

Sorry, I lose track of all of our Evil East methods of preserving our dominance. They all sort of run together after a while.
Off to the rink!

Two overtime games and one that with a GWG scored with less than 2 to go, but the top four all move on.
We'll have two good rivalry games at Amsoil on Saturday.

Jacks 1-2-2 forechecking in period 2 really turned the tide for them. ER had lots of turnovers at their own blue line and Jacks got things going. Great game.

It didn't take long to see the Elks were in trouble. CEC looked like team Finland, very structured hard to penetrate the zone. CEC took a late lead on 5 on 3 advantage and it looked like it was over. Elks responded to tie it up with 1:40 left, Jaremko. CEC did have some additional chances and would have been tough in OT until a too many men on the ice penalty in OT. Didn't take long for the ER PP to end it, Lutz. Elks look relieved to escape, Hats off to CEC they were a tough 7 seed. ER will have to play better, likely will against someone they are very familiar with. Should be fun Sat.

Any more details on the Andover game? Have they dropped off some? Or did STMA play well? STMA does have some players to build on in the future and may be in the mix soon.
