Play them at the Wireless center aka Mankato CC! That is where it should be anyways. Nobody plays there so lets do it!

Bigbabyblue. The Wireless Center would be neutral ice. West does not play there. Only advantage would be to AL and West as their speed would show on the olympic sized sheet

stud-lee,
How is the CC neutral ice. It is in MANKATO. MANKATO is the town where MANKATO West plays. It is not neutral but it would be a good secondary choice if GAC doesn't work

Just as many Kato fans will drive the whopping 10 miles to GAC as they would go to the CC. It is neutral. It is not their home ice

From what I've heard, the high seeds will get home games if GAC isn't available for Monday or Tuesday...

The civic center isn't a good place to play it not great ice and it is basically built for fans needs rather then the players needs

NDFIGHTINGIRISH35... he had a goal i think? maybe an assist. yeah granted it was windom he was making plays. thats the point i was tryin to make. is he as good as anderson... not a chance. and if GAC doesnt work... than yes it is the best option. west never does play there but it does edge west a little bit because it is in mankato. but where else are they suppose to go and play and hold all the fans...?

If the GAC doesn't work out it should be home ice advantage because the CC in kato isn't great and the teams that got first and second worked for it and should get the home ice advantage

the way i think its going to work out is...

marshalls going to play at albert lea's albert lea city arena

new ulm is going to play at mankato's all seasons arena

than the championship game will be regular time at GAC

That sounds correct, except that Albert Lea's Rink is the Albert Lea City Arena.

I believe you may have been thinking about Austin, which I believe is Riverside Arena..........maybe.

ilovelife23,
My mistake I thought you were saying that he was as good as Anderson which as you said there is no way he is. What line does he usually skate with and who else is on his line?

by hockeystar56784
His name is Chris Zimmerman and he is a solid player with great potential and he is normally on the third line with Ortega and Trembley

So the word is... 1A is down to two options.
MSHSL is trying to secure GAC for two games Monday night.
If that can't be done, games will be at higher seed Monday night.
Tuesday night supposedly not an option as it will conflict with basketball games for all schools. :x
Marshall/NU will have to do what they're told, being the lower seeds.
Sure would be nice to have both games in one place, tho.

Who gives a crap about basketball? They play on the same night all year long in the regular season.

You're preaching to the choir on that one.
Just telling you what they (MSHSL) are thinking.
Don't start expecting common sense now.
Hockey always get shafted, you're not used to that by now?

Sorry, I apologize, I had forgotten that you said the MSHSL was working out the details.

Just telling you what they (MSHSL/local school administrators) are PROBABLY thinking.

There, I fixed what I meant above.
Sorry, I was just trying to be sarcastic.
Think we both feel the same way, didn't mean to come off as an expert on anything.
Just a little cranky from no hockey today.
Especially while the rest of the state is enjoying semi-final Saturday!

1AA was told the same thing, play it Monday. My question is what happens if school is cancelled at 1 or more towns on Monday, then what?

(To continue with my sarcastic remarks regarding MSHSL/ local school administration decisions), If that happens goldy, look for hockey to probably flip a coin to determine the finalists.
Wouldn't want to interfere with any speech contests, or some end-of-the-year basketball practices somewhere. "Real" hockey areas have no idea how good they have it. Hockey comes first up north and in most metro areas. This part of the state we are somewhere in-between synchronized swimming and co-ed rodeo on the "important activities" list.

Coed rodeo...............now THAT is funny.

I was thinking the same thing, school may be out on Monday which means no activities.

I heard that the Midwest Wireless Center is being considered for Monday night. We'll just have to wait and see.

Couple of things here....

first off, the MSHSL doesn't concern itself with the details of the sectino tournament....ie, sites, dates etc. Those decisions are left up to the Region committee, in this case, Region 2AA, and the tournament manager, who is from Mankato.

Second, the no school, no play rule doesn't apply here. That is usually an individual policy by school districts for regular season games. I can remember a few times where a school cancelled classes in the morning, and by night time roads were good enough to play a section tournament game. that said, I'm sure if the roads are bad, they'll postpone it again. No one in their right mind would risk the lives of 20 players, coaches and fans to drive halfway across the state for a hockey game.

I think that there is a rule that no team can host a section semi-final at their home arena. I'm not sure but that is just what I heard.

No such rule in 6A. The semis were held in Richfield even when Richfield was in the section. I sure there were a few coaches who weren't happy about that.
