TWINS MAGIC NUMBER: 65

The trip to NY is going as scheduled so far as our boys have been stapled twice.

No worries, this has been going on for years.

Game #100 is in the books and the Twins will be 1.5 out at the close of business today, not bad, but let's not be satisfied.

By the way, here come the Tigers.

A three team race for the last 62 games could be real fun.

Go Twins and Escape from New York.

Well, wasn't that fun?

Snap out of it boys. Right now.

Cassilla doesnt know how many outs there are?

I mean, you gotta be kiddin me.

Play ball.

As far as the contest goes, the number we are looking for is the number of games the first place team wins.

Want the silver lining? I can promise you the Twins will never lose a game in that ball park again (baring playoffs)

As far as the contest goes, look for the Sox to take a late season slide and the Twins win the division with 88 wins...

Ok, so far its :

PB with 92

tomASS at 90

UNS comes in at 88.

What? The rest of you boys waitin for another 30-40 games to see how things go?

The deadline to enter is when Jason Boofin Kubel gets his next home run, if ever.

No, lets get them in by game 110. Anybody after that is ineligble and anybody already entered can make a revision by then.

Just to show I'm a bipartisan kind of guy, I'll make my pick the same as John McCain's age...

93.

I think both the Sox and the Twins have a lot of wins out there yet with soft schedules coming into the clubhouse. The Tigers are going to have their hands full in September (Yankees, Angels, Twins, Rays, White Sox), and I don't think they'll be able to hang in.

Today being the anniversary of the infamous "Pine Tar Game", ESPN reran it this afternoon, and as always, it was a joy to watch. Beyond that, Tim Kurkjian wrote this column about the game which is a pretty good read is you get time.

I knew that Royals tried their best to quickly get the bat back up to the clubhouse and lose it so the League couldn't get their hands on it, but I didn't realize who was actually first to get their hands on it to try and get it out of sight... Gaylord Perry.

The grizzled old Vaselineballer knew exactly what was happening and tried to get the stick the hell out of the vicinity as fast as possible. For some reason, when I read that, I couldn't stop laughing. It was such a funny scene after watching the game again and seeing the "bucket brigade" passing that bat around the dugout and then some guy just taking off running with it... It's even funnier now that I know that Perry - world class cheater - was the ringleader.

94 since Govs took my 93.

And no offense Perkins, but get over the fact that Casilla didn't know how many outs. A veteran pitcher would have said oh well and try to pick up his teammate, but it seemed like Perk had it bothering him the whole game. It is no different than if the 3B boots it, get over it. You are starting to look like boofin' Loshe out there.

Your boy, Casilla, had a defensive series in New York that reminded us all why he didn't make the club out of spring. He had the bonehead error on the play at the plate in game one that started a big inning and he blew a shot at a chance to get thru 5 innings all tied up in game three. Pitcher's accept physical errors, but a mental mistake like that in the major leagues, in a pennant race, is simply unacceptable. I am very impressed with the way he has been playing but that series in New York is the exact reason he didn't make the club in April.

In some MLB markets the time leading up to the trade deadline is a carnival atmosphere of anticipation much like our days leading up to HAL's releasing of his first HS hockey ranking of the year. For Twins sign Bonds fans the last day of July is historically not anymore anticipated than the last day of June or August.

Well anyway, around the division it is no surprise the Sox are close to improving at what they need to improve at. The Sox are looking to acquire P Justin Duschererererererer from the A's for Josh Fields, a prospect who hit 25 HR's in 3 months last season but this year can't seemingly get on the roster much less the field for the Whities. I guess the Sox have no more room for guys who will hit a 3 Run homer at least once every series.

Exit Jose Contreras (7-6, 4.60 ERA) and enter Duscherererererer (10-6 1.87 ERA) for the sprint to the finish. If the subtraction of Santana and the addition of Livantana has had no effect through 2/3rds of the season for the Twins as PB and the Factor have proven all year, the addition of Duscherer and the subtraction of Contreras frightens me little.

Go Twins sign Bonds, hit the Boofin Ball.

He's young. And my only question is CarGo has been making mistakes as well (and not hitting to top it off), but you don't seem to hear as much about him. Is he now the "chosen one"?

CarGo is the "terrible one." In my opinion, he continues to prove that his early season success was a fluke and he needs to be in Rochester.

Either you go with these guys and 'suffer' through the rookie mistakes or you get other guys.

The Twins have been doing both. They get bargain basement rejects who dont produce and then they put the young guys in who are inconsistent.

We have had Cargo looking like he is destined for Rochester and winning rookie of the year in the same month.

Cassila was a knuckelhead who Gardy didnt want here until they needed him and now he is lightning in a bottle who cnat remember how many ots there are.

Span hit .270 in the minors and now he is at .320 or whatever with OBP over .400 and makes Cuddy look like trade bait.

Go figure.
Sox are in DET and Twins get CLE. Make up some ground and get even before the big series.

Gomez out after hitting the wall hard in Cleveland.

Livan gives up two in the first.

Check that, Livan gives up 4 in the first.

Lets hope its his last appearance as a Twin.

Liriano NOW!

Well, we now sit at five losses in a row...
It's same old same old w/ these Twins, pick old hacks for little $, then act surprised when it doesn't work, bench them, call up young position players that struggle as they learn... then when it really matters and we are in a race, where is the help? Need another big bat from the right side, need another reliever, and we need a shut down SP... As usual w/ this club, we sit pat...
Answer: This is MN; no trade for Beltre, no trade for strong set up man, and Lariano is being punished and ignored in AAA by the GM, Manager or both...
Today the Yanks went out and stole two good players from the Pirates - Nady & Marte for little to nothing... I can't stand the Yankees...

When are professional sports teams in this state going to finally go out and put pieces together, when promise is shown?

Wild - Win a division and pick up a hack tough guy for the playoffs
Timberwolves - Let Garnett toil, trade Garnett, draft NBA rookie of year and trade him for a player picked two or three picks later, then keep McHale the Mastermind despite track record
Vikings - A QB away from possible Super Bowl in a down NFC
Twins - Young kids are starting to falter, done well, but its time to make a run, but we will not see any moves, even a simple call up of a shut down SP in your own system

Can't wait for some College, HS and youth hockey to start to keep away from these inept Pro teams in this state!

The last time the Twins were +8 their stock was rising after taking the second game in Detroit thanks to a Monroe 3-run shot. The boys are +8 once again but this time the arrow points down.

Baker will pitch good enough to get the Twins a win tonight but the question is will they Hit the Boofin ball enough to make it Happen.

3 Things that can't be allowed to happen between Mon & Thurs
1. Paul Konerko awakens from a season long slumber to abuse Twins pitching.

2. Hawk Harelson announcing "this game is o-va" more than once.

3. Juan Uribe (.231 3HR 18RBI) homers and has mutiple RBI's.
