District 8 is pretty strong this year. Given the makeup of the South region. I would expect you'd see two D8 teams in the state tournament. So pick two from Eagan, Lakeville North, Lakeville South and Rochester (possibly Woodbury and River Heights (IGH/SSP)).

Other nice teams I've seen: Edina, Wayzata, Duluth East, Centennial -- Pretty much business as usual.

One sleeper pick would be Champin Park -- I understand the nucleus is from Team Midwest and they have one defensemen who is the best PW player I've seen this year on a Minnesota Hockey association team.

state championship game grand rapids vs. maple grove

grand rapids is plain tough. top player is 6 feet 3 inches and NO one in the state can cover him. that team top to bottom is solid and their goaltending is adequate. maple grove has a top goalie as well as excellent players 1-15. these teams played in the semis in the Bemidji tournament and the game was awesome.
the outcome should be the same at state as it was in the Bemidji tournament: Grand Rapids 4 Maple Grove 3.

My guess is it will be Bemidji, Roseau or East Grand Forks from D16.
And TRF. Not Warroad.
Grand Rapids, Moorhead, Brainerd, or Bemidji will advance.
I would go with Grand Rapids and Bemidji.

I didn't figure out who would be which seed coming out of each Region and that is going to hamper this breakdown a bit.

Being a bartender, you should have picked up on the Watchdog's sarcasm. He's simply pointing out that the forum has become overrun with bantam talk.

I have been watching Rogers the last few weeks and they are playing outstanding hockey right now. They have to be a strong consideration to win state. In the last week that have beaten the Fargo Flyers 3-1, Maple Grove 5-4 and they beat Edina 6-3 the other night.

The team is on a roll.

ive been saying all year roseau peewees are week but they have beaten every team in the distrect and lost to grand rapids in overtime without one of their best players who was out sick. east hockey you mention warroad but not roseau? warroad is beyond bad they have zero chance of getting out of the distrect. it will be roseau, bemidji, and the host team trf in regions from dis. 16 east grand could take out roseau or bemidji with some luck. regions looks like its totally up for grabs whoever comes out will get smoked hard at state the whole region is weak as far as im concerned.

Watchdog,

Don't be so quick to judge teams by scores until you have seen the game, or know the facts. Yes, Brainerd did lose to Roseau 4-1, however, did you know that Brainerd had played Bemidji L 6-5 earlier that day, and had traveled to play a rested Roseau Team.

I don't know that Brainerd has enough horses to get to State, but Mr. Elliott was at the Brainerd - Bemidji game and he does know his youth hockey. I think Elliott was commenting on Eastcoasthockey's North prediction. Elliott is a Lumberjack Supporter all the way.

The North Region is WIDE open and good luck to the teams as they begin the District Tournaments!

i watched the brainerd roseau game and its not an excuse that they played earlier in the day. these kids have plenty of strength and energy to play two games. i played hockey i could have played four games a day. heck id get done playing a game and wanted to play another one. i watched brainerd bantams beat a very good roseau team and i think they played a game earlier in the day also. lets just go with this the entire north region is week and who could possible predict what team will come out on top but dont sit on here and blow the horn for any of these teams because none of them are that good and who ever goes to state from the north is going to be embaressed at state much like sartell was last year unless the whole age group is weak i havent seen any of the city teams play so im really guessing on that prediction. im not cutting anyone down im just telling it like it is and the reality of the whole situation. im from the north and nobody likes to see the north regardless of who have success down south more than i do.

I agree with the multiple games per day comment, I was only stating a fact. playing well rested at home over a team traveling and having already played does give an advantage. The Bantam game you reffered to also required that an exhausted Brainerd team hold on for the win after being up 4-1. please check any of my previous posts and you will discover that I am by no means blowing any teams horn, just a hockey observer that has watched many PW games.
It is playoff time and it will be very interesting to see how things shake out. I think it is Wide open up North and that is a good thing.

Hey btw, nice comment on the Selects Thread! right on!
