Hill Murray @ St Thomas Academy 2-10-07

On Saturday at 7:30PM the Pioneers of Hill Murray (19-2-1) will travel to the St Thomas Ice Arena to play the Cadets of St Thomas Academy (17-4-2) for the conference title. Hill Murray wins, they get the title; St Thomas wins, they split the title. Last time they met Nick Larson had a good game and St Thomas missed about 5 scoring chances that lead them to 1-4 loss. Recently St Thomas shut out Richfield 4-0 who Hill Murray need OT to beat them 3-2. Nick Larson is leading both St Thomas and Hill Murray in points this season. Will St Thomas be embarrassed at home, or will they give Hill Murray a loss just like last year?

This year the pioneers will seal the deal for back-to-back CSC titles. Last year, they were just coming off of the Holy Angels game and were pretty beat up when STA pulled the upset. This year they are in better shape and will win.

What game were you watching last time these two teams played??

Hill Murray completely dominated this game which could have easily been 8-2 or 8-3. HM missed great scoring chances, hitting 3 posts and missing an open net with a shot that went out of the rink.

HM seems to be gearing up at the right time but you never know what will happen in any given game.

I see a 5-3 HM win.

I was watching the game at the Aldrich Arena between St Thomas and Hill Murray. The Cadets and the Pioneers. Need to be a little more specific? State Thomas offense missed a few where it was passed to them at the net and Phillippi was on the other side of the net. Hill Murray probably missed some too. Just like last time, though, I voted for Hill Murray as I did this time. Just commenting on the last game and a recent common opponent to see what people think of this one coming up. But hey, every time someone says something not in Hill Murray's favor, let's attack them personally.

Good luck to both teams. May the Nick Larson who plays better win.

According to what you wrote, if STA had not missed their scoring chances they would have won the game 6-4.

"... and St Thomas missed about 5 scoring chances that lead them to 1-4 loss."

Not the case at all. You should have typed, "and St Thomas getting outplayed for 85% of the game lead them to 1-4 loss."

Good luck in this one though. It could go either way. I think someone other than Nick Larson will be the difference.

I will pick Hill Murray on this one, but I will say that STA will not be embarrassed if they lose. How can you say that? Both good teams and playing well...No embarrassment, in my opinion.

You are right Zan, their won't be any embrassment no matter the score. One is A, the other AA and one is a traditional power while the other is a johnny come lately. STA earned respect by winning A last year and has another solid squad this year. No one expects them to beat HM consistently. So no matter the outcome, STA has had another solid year, taking second in a conference with a number of AA teams. I'll be at the game and expect it to be somewhat close as HM still isn't lighting the lamp as much as they could for the way they dominate games. I'd say 4-2 HM could be real close to the final...

Hill Murray has more overall depth than STA. They will prevail.

Should be a good one. Really good. Honestly the only game this season I'd like to see Hill Murray lose. Seeing a private, Catholic CSC school do well in State would be nice. Hopefully they make it and do better than last year. From what I saw at the other game, this should be a really evenly matched game. Hill Murray has a couple really good players and outsizes St Thomas by a lot. Two good goalies. Hill Murray definitely has the better defense. Speed probably goes to St Thomas. Both teams can score like anyone. Hopefully it's a close one.

I Think. . . there will be a huge brawl after the nick larson's argue about who stole who's name and both teams are declared losers.

:P

In that case I guess there'd be no argument, it would be that St Thomas' Larson's parents stole it. Totally my bad for getting it wrong, but why would you even make the comment if they aren't the same age?

Of course STA won. That has been stated a few times. They are a good team. That is not that surprising as HM have one of the best in Anklets P. HM is way overrated in the same way Notre Dame football is each year.

The game was cold as ice and very low scoring. :D

STA - HM

Blaisdell and Mergens scored for STA. Crandall was stellar in goal. As expected, the game was very chippy with a lot of penalties.
