Section 3AA semifinals (2-27) White Bear vs Roseville

by wbmd
It will be the third meeting of the season between the Bears (16-10) and the Raiders (22-3-1). Roseville defeated White Bear previously 4-3 and 5-4, both times stopping a Bears' rally.
How's this one going to finish?

I hope the Bears only have to beat the Raiders this time. Let em play!

This game should be another amazing game between the two rivals. I hope WB comes ready to play because if they do they can and will pull off the upset. It is hard for a team to beat another good team 3 times in the same year and I dont see it happening this time. WB 4 Roseville 3 in another thrilling 3AA game.

Roseville should win this game. Goaltending issues and lack of depth will hurt wb. Rsvl has to much up front and decent defense. Wb needs to start like they did against Roseville last time and not take penalties to win. If roseville gets 4 or more power plays this game will be over.

White Bear wont start out slow this time and will take it to the Raiders, but the score will still be close, WB 4-3.

This statement is just the latest in the season long, constant referee bashing done by White Bear Lake fans. I guess they just don't get it – Roseville is the better team as exemplified by the two prior match ups.

I watched the last roseville-wb match and the reffing was not very good. I have no stake in who wins or loses but It was very 1 sided last game. I believe the powerplays were 9 for roseville and 1 or 2 for wb. Anybody would take that if your a roseville fan and hate it if your a wb fan. It will be a big game and hopefully the ref's don't try and steal the show. W.b. probably deserved 6 of those calls but roseville does do a little diving and that influenced some of the calls. I saw a ref make a call on a play he had his back to, makes you wonder.
I still say roseville is the deeper better team and should win. But I have seen wb play above their talent grade quite a few times this year and that is what makes playoff hockey so much fun for all of us.

Actually the power plays were 1 for WBL and 10+ for rose.

Is it possible that WB has taken the penalties that they have because of their undisciplined play? Ohh- and by the way, when you come out flat (like WB has in the past two tilts) and your playing a FAST team, you are much more likely to be called for hook, trip, and interference. I’ve seen both games and I think if anything the refs could have called even more penalties on DuhBears.
Roseville by two.

AMEN! I was going to say the same thing. When you cross check someone in the back of the head or high stick someone in the throat you are going to get called 99% of the time. In the last RV/WBL game I don't recall many "weak" calls. I don't think Johnson should have received a 10 and 2 for his hit but, once again, that hit will get called for at least a cross check or charge 9 out of 10 times. There were many undisciplined plays on White Bear's behalf and that's why they were in the box so many more times that Roseville.
With that being said, I hope for a cleaner game tomorrow night so there aren't any excuses come Wednesday.
I look for Roseville to get the early lead again but hold onto it with a little more authority this time.
Raiders - 6
Bears - 3

You guys should get a room. Funny stuff. How do the Raiders get their helmets on over their halos? Maybe you got a tip or two from Lechner over at Hill.

At least 8 or 9 of the penalties White Bear got in the last Roseville game were deserved. So there should have been a definite edge in powerplays.
You have your views along with WBLM and I have mine. I'm not calling the Raiders angels but they kept their cool and won the game.
You lost me on the Lechner comment, sorry.

If WB comes out flat against Roseville they will most definatley lose again.
If WB comes out flying they will need to put the puck in the net for a chance to win and not rely on defense or goaltending where they are weaker.
This definatley will be a game where the hardest working team wins with a lot of scoring.
Should be a fun won to watch.
WB-5 (OT)
Roseville-4

We can always hope but the fans of the orange and black have been consistant all year so I'm not going to hold my breath.
Go Raiders!

I agree WB came out flat the last 2 games and if they do it again they will get beat. However, the Bears came out flying the last match, until they called a penalty on Hanson for holding, when Hanson was in front of RV's defender "Bad call", it's pretty tough to hold a guy that is behind you, in a full stride. Not to mention Johnson 2 and 10 was a joke. Why? I agree a roughing or maybe a charge, but it was not a check from behind. I agree on a 2 but the 10 was uncalled for. Not to say the Bears didn't deserve some penalties, but so did RV and they were left uncalled. I try not to blame refs for any game result, and I don't blame them for this out come. However, I do believe that if the game was called more fairly, WB wouldn't have had to score 3 SH goals to stay in the game. 5 on 5 WB stayed with RV, unfortunately there was not much opportunity for 5 on 5 play.

I agree with your sentiment. It's just not fun to watch when the official unnecessarily control the flow of the game. Hopefully, tonight will be different.

How can you say it was WB's fault---the refs were BRUTAL.
How does Hansen get called for holding?
How does Johnson get a check from behind?
How does Fiala get a penalty when he stops out front of the Roseville net after the play was over, mobbed by 3 Roseville players, and then get taken to the box with no Roseville players with him?
The Bears scored 2 short handed goals, along with a penalty shot that was givin when Hartmann was taken down shorthanded on a breakaway. The 4th goal came when the play was 5 on 5 with the Bears having an empty net.
It's ridiculous.
Let em play 5 on 5 and Dorr is no matchup for Hansen.
I say 5-4 Bears in O.T.
SHUT THE DORR.
