The third seeded University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux will host the eighth seeded Minnesota State University-Mankato Mavericks this weekend (March 9-11) in the First Round of the WCHA Playoffs at Raplh Englestad Arena in Grand Forks. The Fighting Sioux went 19-12-5 Overall and 13-10-5 in the WCHA in 2007 while the Mavericks were 13-17-6 Overall and 10-13-5 in the WCHA. The two teams faced of four times during the regular season with North Dakota winning the first three match-ups (5-4, 8-5, 8-4) while the teams tied in the fourth meeting (4-4). All signs are pointing to a high scoring series. The winner of this best of three series will advance to the 2007 Red Baron Final Five at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul March 15-17. Any thoughts or predictions on this series?

Kato is usually tough at the end of the year and can be a pesky squad. I think they'll take it to 3, but North Dakota is on fire right now and no way can the Mavs stop the UND PP or the DOT line.

North Dakota's on fire. I can't see them doing anything else except blow out the Mavs again tonight.

North Dakota is sitting pretty for the Final Five. 2-1 win last night on Rylan Kaips game-winning goal.
