I'm leaning toward AL or Faribo. Austin may surprise a few people this year, Jenkins is a pretty good player and just might be able to carry her team...
1. Albert Lea
2. Faribo
3. Austin
4. Northfield
5. Red Wing
6. Waseca
Only 8 months away...

IMO
Faribault is the strongest team in the section- they did lose Miller but Foley and Kastner carry nearly as many points and Bjoraker isn't far behind so they will still have a scoring powerhouse... Myos is gone but I think Dupay is solid enough.. defense they lose two but since they only carry four might be problematic
Albert Lea will also be a contender- they lose Jensen which is a big part of the team but otherwise will be just as strong offensively having young talents of Christensen, Passingham and Gackstetter..defense only loses Jensen and Cottrell so will slightly suffer because of that but will not be too bad.. loses Olchefske but IMO Hanson is just as good
Austin could surprise us all- losing 8 seniors will hurt them (Faber, Heimsness, Knudtson, Snyder etc) all they will have offensively is Jenkins, Wagner MIGHT be able to help out but I don't think so... defensively they won't be great... all they have returning is Swiss, Ellingson, Moline and Larson...goaltending will be their weakness...as far I as I know they don't have anyone at a "solid" level
Northfield could possibly be in the running- they only lose their backup goalie.. offensively they have Nguyen and Dvorak, fast players..on defense they Jirik and Jenkins both pretty good...and their goalie, Stark, only an 8th grader is normally pretty solid... they're a very young team and will be very competitive in a few years
Red Wing I'm not so sure about- they lost to Northfield 3-2 so i suppose i would compare them to North.. they seem to lose quite a few players but I'm not sure since they have a girl in grade 14 and one in grade 21.. also no stats are entered and I haven't seen them play...sorry
Waseca is probably the bottom team- they are still pretty young losing 3 seniors but their leading scorer, Foels, is a 9th grader... they lose their starting goalie but I believe the backup is nearly as good...last year they were beaten pretty bad by all the teams in the section so I don't expect much out of them for a while.. young program too
My Guess:
1. Faribault
2/3. Albert Lea
3/2. Austin
4. Northfield
5. Red Wing
6. Waseca
Albert Lea/ Austin could possibly go either way

Interesting now that we lose Mankato West.
1. Albert Lea: Bullseye is on their chest. Lost the least and return alot of depth. Big question though, Can they handle the pressure of everyone gunning for them as well as Austin did?
2. Faribault we have lots of talent and are not far behind Albert Lea, will give them a run. By the way we are below them being we couldn't beat them last year.
3. Austin, simply because of Jenkins, this one scares me though, they could be higher or lower depending on their unproven players. With their goalie situation I suspect a game against waseca could be 15-12 Austin.
4. Northfield, but they could move up, they were close to Albert Lea.\
5. Redwing, Just don't know enough about them.
6. Waseca
The real cool thing is that we play section 3 our first state game. If it is like this last year, that could put us in the winners side.

West goes from a favorite in 1A to an also ran with the stroke of a pen...
Who knows maybe they can get past New Prague. I don't know much about New Prague other than they've been pretty good the past few years.
Any bets as to whether or not they change the State tourney format between now and next year? I can already hear the pissing and moaning about 1A playing 3A at the State tourney...

upon further review of this sight I have decided on a South Metro Tigers team...the mascot can change I just would like to remain "tigerpower".. we could be real funny and be the stars too
we will combine Austin, Albert Lea, Faribault, Owatonna and Mayo... we would probably be forced to go to AA but we could most likely be a contender... or at least get a few more All-States

South Metro Tigers...has a nice ring to it. If I had my choice though, I might go with JM or Century just to grab either of their goalies

Funny guys. But we are still about 200,000 short in a population match. So we could just add on JM and Century and still be in the quota.
This humor really shows how much farther ahead of the game we are.

Hey coach,
Is Faribo playing in the Showcase Spring League again? The AL girls put a team together, should be fun.

No Faribault isn't playing. Are you guys playing Tier 1? If so I might come watch you guys play Jet's Pink Team. They are really soft and I think they don't have a single Allstate player on their team.

They debated, but since all of the returning players signed up it was decided that Tier 1 would be fine. Jet coaches the Panthers eh? I know the AL team only has 1 All-Stater (4'5" - 65# Jenna Christensen), but that depends on which All-State team list that you are referring.
Final QRF Rankings: February 17, 2007
-doesn't do too much for 1A's credibility
5 Austin (24-3-0) 123.4
17 Albert Lea (15-11-1) 88.6
19 Faribault (16-10-1) 86.8
28 Northfield (11-15-0) 66.0
37 Red Wing (5-20-0) 49.2
47 Waseca (5-18-0) 34.9

And if you're from AL, why are you raggin' on your own team members?

I'm not raggin' on anyone. A couple posts before mine tigerpower was taking a little shot at the North Metro Stars (a conglomeration of 14 large metro schools). I was just playing along AND acknowledging those 2 fine young goalies in Rochester. shees.....lighten up T, even falcons got that one.

Hey twinnesota, Who is the best goalie in the section?
I bet you say Kelli Hanson.

From AL and works in Austin.

So KH has a job in Austin?

Hey Buzzard89, here I have been not exactly loving your posts about AL all season long, and now I'm thinking maybe you are from AL...
Or does Falcons89=ZAMBONI?

Twinnesota,
Every now and then you grace us with your very "accurate" knowledge of injuries or the best team in the section... but more than not your ignorance dumbfounds us
Falcons was referring to YOU, when he said " From Austin, works in AL" not Hanson
Also he was assuming that since you're from AL you would automatically say Hanson is the best in the section
So next time before you post THINK.. we don't need two Swisses

Tigerpower you are correct. I assume that how quick Twinn was to defend KH and his inside track on Austin that he must be KH's dad.
Real question, I stated before that KH was the best goalie in the section, why would that change now, with weaker goalies to compete against. She is the only tested, experinced goalie on a good team.
Who is ZAMBONI, some halfbrother you guys kicked off the farm?
By the way twin, to make you feel better, I have some legitimate inside info, that #12 of Austin, was injured during sections and state. One word: WARRIOR.

Falcons89=ZAMBONI?
Hardly. falcons will make the occasional positive comment about AL whereas ZAMBONHEAD only speaks of things in which he is uninformed, in half truths and negatively of the AL teams.
we don't need two Swisses
That's funny, good work.
Who is ZAMBONI, some halfbrother you guys kicked off the farm?
I think he's actually from Arkansas...
I assume you've read some of the garbage he posts? I don't get it, he's from AL, he lives in AL, he and his wife work in AL, his son played hockey in AL, he has something against every one of the AL coaches (particularily the A bantam coach),
he doesn't go to any games (I've heard he's banned from the arena) and yet he thinks he knows what he's talking about??? Without question, he is THE MOST UNINFORMED and hated person I know from AL. He has ZERO credibility on this board.
that #12 of Austin, was injured during sections and state. One word: WARRIOR.
No question about it...kind of what I was referring to last month when I said there was no chance any of those girls would miss a Section game. Pretty much have to amputate a leg for her to miss a game.
Does anybody know anything about Red Wing?

I know they have a very nice player in Rose Alleva (Defence -2010), a not so great record and that's about it. Near as I can tell it may just be a 3 horse race, AL, Faribo and Austin (maybe Northfield too).

That's what I said a long time ago, but I guess nobody believed it.
According to Tigerpower, I'm an idiot. Tigerpower must know everything about everything (smartest person in this world).
