who wins the Section, to me i think Hibbing has a real good shot at winning it.

Personally i think this section will be a very good section to watch.

CONTENDERS

Duluth Marshall (always a good team, 2nd at state 2 years in a row)
Hibbing (Historical program always has a solid team)
International Falls (if Youso and Hjelle stay, watch out for the Broncos)
Virginia (won't be as deep regardless if Sachetti stays or not)

DARK HORSES

Greenway (always seem to put together an upset along the line)
Eveleth (prestigious program no matter the record)
Silver Bay (manage to play games somewhat close like V-MIB & Falls)

CELLAR

Duluth Central (on and off goalie at times)
Two Harbors (never really have been a force)
Ely (Ouch)

It all depends on who stays.. Marshall always seems to get some talent year after year  Hibbing loses a solid goaltender and some of their top players.. If Sacchetti leaves Virginia I don't think they have a shot.. I personally think next year International Falls will head to the X as long as Hjelle and Youso stick around..

CONTENDERS
marshal (let's face it, they're private)
international falls ( best goalie in the state, best player in the section, more or less solid team all around)
POSSIBLITIES
hibbing (good every year, losing some talent, gaining some talent, won't be as good as they were they've been the past couple years)
virginia (losing kishel ((ouch!)) but if nico stays, they should be pretty good, they will have a returning goalie and chris westin who didn't play at all this year)
eveleth ( haven't been good since we dropped the atomic bomb, but they have some returning players and they might make some upsets)
DARKHORSES
greenway (decent goalie, but nothing else really)
silver bay (will never be good)
NO CHANCE
duluth central (realisticly, they're a football/basketball team)
two harbors ( TWO WHO??)
ely ( hahahaha )

[quote="vppp"]eveleth ( haven't been good since we dropped the atomic bomb, but they have some returning players and they might make some upsets)quote]

Actually they won 4 straight state titles and went on a 79 game winning streak starting in 1948. they also won 2 during the 90s. The atomic bomb was dropped in 1945. You gotta pay better attention in history class
I do know that they lost their entire top line and the top 4 scorers. they do return 4 out of the 5 defensemen and forwards with potential.

hopefully the boys of Eveleth Gilbert will understand what a historical program they have the privilege to play on and take pride in the sweater they wear on their back and make some magic happen next year.

WHAT IF
Mausolf, Grivette, and Boese didn't hightail out of the program??????

With all that being said here are the seeding for 2007-2008
1-Marshall
2-Hibbing
3-Falls
4-Eveleth
5-Virginia
6-Greenway
7-Silver Bay
8-Ely
9-Duluth Central
10-Two Harbors

Who will Duluth Marshall have? Dano Jacques and Mausolf yeah, but other than that do they have any good jv players coming up or anything? If not they could be a 4 or 5 seed in this section. I did not see much non senior talent on Marshall this year.

Marshall will be a top 3 seed in this section. No doubt about it.

Bob you are probably right about that, I could have been exaggerating a bit. Do you know what kind of talent they will have besides Jacques and Mausolf?

Some of you are wondering about DM. Here's a few things to consider and my opinion. Jacques is getting noticed by Cedar Rapids and others. Odds are that he will be back playing his senior year. If that happens, their blueliners will be just as stronger or stronger than this year. It appears that a highly rated Defensive kid is moving up this way from the Southern part of the state. Not a given on transfers as they have an entrance exam to pass. Two very good jv players that scored nearly every game will be in forward mix. Goalie position will be filled in by Paul, who is highly ranked for a Soph.. Paul is a question mark as he is somewhat untested. First line will be good. Second line appears to be solid. Depth on bottom forward lines are questionable for now.

my prediction for the section is marshall. they'll end up playing either I falls or hibbing next year in the fianls. marshall will be ran by Dano Jacques and Mausolf. the thing that not alot of people know is that they live together during the school year. and the guy coming from the south i heard that he is planning on living with them too. so that is a good team chemestry there and can take them to the X again.

If Hjelle and Youso stick around for their senior seasons they should make it to the X.

small blurb in the duluth paper today about hjelle commiting to umd and it also said he was unsure of his plans for his senior year
i gotta think that if he or youso decide to leave, the other will follow

Look for Youso to commit to Minnesota very soon.

youso will be back to play for the broncos his senior year. As for what he does in the pre and post season, he might be playing for juniors
