I was doing some investigation and I noticed Wayzata is the only hockey organization with teams at state at ALL levels. They have teams at state at ALL the following "boys youth" levels:
JGA
JAB
U16....they don't have a team.
BTA
BTB1
PWA
PWB...2 teams
What is Wayzata doing?
A few other associations are doing well too, but Wayzata is the only with all boys team represented at state. Has this ever happened before?
Anyone have some insight as to what is going on at Wayzata?
Heck their Squirt A team also won the Fargo Tourney!
Let me know your thoughts.

I am from wayzata, im on The Bantam B1 Blue team and making a run to state.
The reason so many of the wayzata teams are going to state is because of the coaches, every practice we skate harder and go longer than other teams, it forms a bond between the players and makes the team unstoppable

Hey from my view the Roseau story is the best "hockey" stories all year. I honestly hope the Roseau town comes down "again" and routes on the BTA team like they did at state High School tourney. BTA state is the state tourney in about 2 years so I hope your fans show up. You have an unlucky initial seed with top rated EP but they are due to be beat, and fan support I'm certain may make the difference.

Khubs14, that's great that there are that many teams going to state. It's too bad the A team will get thrashed by Centennial, and the B1 team will get diced up by Blaine. The consolation trophy is a viable option tho. I heard number 14 on the B1 team is a girl. Kinda skates like one.

I think to give a fair evaluation of Wayzata's program it is a must to start with the numbers. Along with Edina, EP, White Bear and a few others they dwarf most programs. 7 peewee teams and 6 bantam teams. THEY BETTER BE GOOD!!! Having said that , no question the coaches do a great job and, success is earned and not givin..hats off to a job well done. Many B players in these associations would be mid to top A level players elsewhere. Good Luck Trojans

It's sad only about 4-6 skaters per grade will ever see meaningful varsity time for the Trojans.

Cause and effect for Strongest Programs
1) Tradition - Grand Rapids, Roseau, Warroad, Moorhead, Hermantown all strong, even at B's with programs smaller than the burbs but high participation percentages. If you are an athelete in these towns, you are just as likely to play Hockey as other sports. Town support for Hockey is high.
2) Follow the money - Hockey is an expensive sport. Which are the most desirable burbs to live in? Where are the most new homes being built? 5 years later, find the new strong youth hockey programs.
3) Raw participation numbers
4) Alignment of the Planets: Once in a while, everything comes together with high numbers of high quality players like Bloomington Jeff in the early 1990's. Centennial in the early 2000's. Wayzata now. The 1992 class at EP.
