Pics and a story of the new ballpark are posted here. Looks pretty nice (although against the Metrodump, what wouldn't?). Looks a lot more "modern" on the exterior than a lot of the new parks, but that's not a bad thing. Lots of glass = more open. The thing that caught my eye was that it's 339' to the right field corner... that's a little bit of a poke.

It looks great.

I was reading a bit about the park in Pittsburg (PNC). The Pirates won 67 games and drew 1.8 million.

The Twins drew similar numbers and won 96 games and their division.

I think the park makes a difference.

I think the Stadium looks great. I like how you can see downtown beyond the outfield and how they have the numbers of Twins greats outside the stadium.

Anybody else think that plaza above the wall in right field looks a lot like the plaza above the left field wall at Jacobs Field? Looks almost exactly the same.

I also like the pedestrian bridge that goes over 394 - it's a cool way to get that pre-game gathering spot that would have been tough to squeeze in just about anywhere else down there. If I'm not mistaken, I think that's close enough so that the T-Wolves might be able to cash in on that spot in fall & spring as well.

It definitely looks similar and I like it. The plaza in left field at The Jake is one of the qualities that makes it among the best ballparks in baseball in my opinion. I'm liking the glass look as well.

Man this is going to be really nice! The dump dome is just not a good place to play a baseball game!

I do think that the Twins new Ballpark looks fantastic and will be a fantastic place to watch a baseball game on a sunny summer evening; however, it will be tough to drive 2 or more hours to go to a game that rained (or more likely snowed) out!

The lack of a roof is obviously going to cause some postponements, but I don't think it's really that big of a deal. Both Chicago teams have been able to due while enduring the same inclement weather. It will only be a problem during the very first weeks of the season, potential playoff appearances, and the handful of rainouts that will occur over the course of a season. I would imagine they would start on the road virtually every year.

Ever been to a Twins/Brewers series at Miller? It's like "Metrodump East". It's usually a 2:1 Twins fan to Brewer fan ratio. We can fill that place just as easily as Pohlad Field.

Morneau just wanted assurances that the dimensions suit his wheelhouse, and they appear to be. The right field foul pole is 328 feet from home plate with a power alley in right-center that's 367 feet away.

According to that, it shouldn't be the 339 that govs stated.

Center field will be 404 feet away, with a left-center power alley of 377. The righthanded-hitting Twins have a left field foul pole that's 339 feet away

Left field must be what he was talking about.

Dimensions are:
LF 339 & 8 foot wall with two decks of seats behind it
LC 377 & 8 foot wall with bullpen behind it
CF 404 & 8 foot wall with pine trees behind it
RC 367 & 8 foot wall with bullpen behind it
RF 328 & 23 foot wall I don't think it will be a big tarp like at the Dome. and the concourse behind it

It would be kind of neat to have a lake type of thingto signify the 10,000 lakes thing behind one of the walls for homerun balls to land in.

3. A banner that says "We like it here, and this time we mean it!"

4. Free SPF 300 sunblock for most minnesotans

Didn't hear that but he has been the "face of the franchise" for the last few years until Mauer Morneau, and Santana developed. Then again, I don't eat too many tamales anyway.

Here are some more things to throw into the new park:

. put a few little cabins around State Champ's lake and sell them as "Cabin Suites" making sure that the isles that lead to them are crammed.

. Keep a flock of one million mosquitos and release them before every game

. have recorded loon calls playing in between innings

. Shoot a deer during the 7th inning stretch

I like those but do you really think they will have to keep mosquitos to release. There will probably be two million there on those hot humid nights after a rain storm.

Ah...the good ole days are coming back.

Nothing like sitting in those left field seats for a hot and muggy matinee.

It was a good place to watch a game.

The new place will be even better.

Here is some more


. Have a patch of corn growing out in center field as part of the hitters backdrop and measure it to see if its knee high by the 4th of July.

. Have some timber wolves penned in the outfield area and turn them loose to run down the deer for the 7th inning stretch shooting.

. Put some duck boats in State Champ's lake and release a few ducks for a between innings duck shoot by fans selected by random drawing according to section, row and seat number.
