I was just wondering with the new transfer rules are players going to be able to do before and after juniors? If anyone has any informaion on this I would really like to be informed on this subject because, i have read the rules over and over again and I can't figure out wether the player would be able to play high school hockey once they come back.

Most kids who do a "before and after" stint in juniors commute to their team's games anyway.

Most of them just play on the weekends while attending school in Minnesota during the week - at least as far as before the season goes.

Those guys above me said it best. Most attend their MN HS's and then travel to the games.

That's pretty rare. But as long as they are enrolled at their HS it seems to be ok, if not, it seems to not be ok.

So what? They enroll at another HS for the last 2-3 months? Or for the first 2-3 months of the next year? Well then they should have to sit out because it is just plain stupid to do, much less think you can do it without sitting out.

No, I'm not disagreeing it's stupid. And yes, most, probably close to all, stay at their high school. But the question probably wouldn't have even needed to be asked for those people and everyone was just saying, 'well, most people stay, so it's not an issue.' Obviously not.

What I am asking is if a player wants to live in the area where his junior team is playing out of is he eligable to come back after 2 or 3 months and play in the MHSHL now with the new rules?

If a player were to go to say, Green Bay, for before and after, and he attended school in Green Bay instead of his hometown, then came back for the hockey season, he would be treated as an out-of-state transfer. He would have been ineligible even under the old rules.

That's why before-and-after players only go to weekend games with their junior teams before the season.

Not too sure about that one. There's possibly a deadline to return to your school by. Several years ago, Aaron Miskovich from Rapids played for Green Bay in the fall. He missed his supposed deadline, and had to sit out the first 2 weeks of the high school season. He was still eligible and as far as I know wasn't commuting. He went on to win Mr. Hockey for GR that year. The rules may have changed though.
