Does anyone know of Minnesota kids going out to this tournament in Vancouver?

A.J. Merritt of Grand Rapids was invited to the Global Tournament in Las Vegas but hasn't committed as of yet. Possible conflict with a hockey trip to Philadelphia.

Well GR3343, I've seen Austin Merritt play before and he was very unimpressive. This "big tournament" must just be for those willing to shell out big money, becasue I can think of many other kids that are WAY better than A.J.

I agree with Gopher5, A.J. Merrit has good hands but overall doesn't stand out above his teammates. Descent player but not great.

What is it with players like you and the others that continue to bash players from their own town. I'm sure you consider yourself to be the greatest, but really. When is enough enough? So, A.J. got invited to this Global thing. Is it really a concern for you? Are you lacking so much self esteem and self respect that all you can do is bash people? Seems like you must be either very insecure about your place on the food chain or envious that you don't get invited to things. Either way, your childish and continued remarks should be a reminder to yourself about what a low class person you really are. I'm quite certain your true character will appear(if it hasn't already) making both your parents and past and future coaches proud. You and the ones like you who continue to make such stupid and classless comments on forums like these are what's wrong with GR hockey and youth hockey in general. Grow up and act like you've got a brain, or man up and confront the people you bash with your opinions. Sneaking around on a forum and trying to bring people down with stupidity is just a testament to what type of kid you really are deep down. Insecure and scared for your place.
The topic of the thread asked if anyone knew if any Minnesota kids were going. The answer was simple. No one said anything about standing out above his teammates or being the best. Just that he had received an invitation. And this I can guarantee : he didn't received the invitation based on his parents willingness to toss away big money to anything that's out there. Sorry you feel so poorly about yourself that the first reaction you have is to toss out insults. Perhaps you can call Global Sports and ask for a letter, or maybe have daddy do it. I'm sure they would be more than happy to send one right over.
Again, grow up or man up. If you think you're the best, know that you're not. Guess we'll see. If Grand Rapids hockey is still Grand Rapids hockey come fall, then only the ones who deserve to be there will make it. No one's daddy should be able to make a difference anymore.

Trust me I've seen A.J. Merritt play and he is ok, but nothing special. I know for a fact that there are many other players in Grand Rapids that are much better than he is.

Never been a secret who my son is. Also, the issue at hand is how little class people like you show. Once again you've shown your ignorance by making a comment about someone else's ability. Worry about yourself, I'm sure there's plenty there to keep you busy, both with your game and with the type of person you are. As stated before it's low class, mindless, spineless weasels like yourself that are ruining the reputation of GR hockey. Once again, grow up and start showing the class the people of our community expect.

Once again, pure ignorance in your comments. Not sure the topic was his ability or who he was better than. Obviously you're insecure about something. I didn't read where anyone said there wasn't better players in GR.

This sounds like the GR hockey I know, there will always be that person or persons who would rather put someone down instead of saying some good about them. It's sad this is coming from someone in our community or a teammate and we wonder why GR hockey dosen't have any youth championships in the last how many years? When everyone is out for them selves. Hockey is a team sport, without your teamates you are nothing!

That's a much better team type attitude. Maybe there is hope.

Way to man up gopher5, we have to stick together in GR to keep our program strong and set a good example for the next generation. The younger kids read these posts and look up to you older players.

Apology accepted. If those of you that are moving up from the Bantams could actually find a way to grow up as a team, then with ALL of your skills you have a chance to succeed and do great things as a team. Heart and soul wins championships, not just talent. Next game any of you play for GR, try playing for the kid next to you and for the colors you wear, not for yourselves, you may be surprised at the results.
