Ignorance? Ouch!
I wanted to let you know. You've made us all better people by posting on this site. How can we repay you?
Because I plan on taking my son out of any organized hockey at the young age of 7 years old. I have some questions for you hockey lord:
Where's the best outdoor rink?
Should I have my son skate with older kids? Or keep him with younger kids so he can score tons of goals? If he plays with older kids. I'm afraid he might become to good. If he skates with younger kids. It would be fun to watch him score 48 goals a night.
Should he wear full equipment on the outdoor rinks? I hate to get his confidence built up that one day he might make an organized team.
Is it ok for him to wear college or pro jerseys skating outside? Or would this get his hopes up to high? I hate to get him dreaming that someday he might actually have a chance to play at a higher level.
What type of equipment should we buy?
Should I buy him a curved stick? I'm thinking it might benefit him to use a straight blade. I'd hate for him to learn to lift the puck at such a young age.
Should he raise his arms when he scores? It might not be fair to the other kids on the other team. What if they get sad or worse yet. Cry?
Should we stick with Blue pucks or Black pucks? Because the Blue pucks bounce like bouncy balls I'd hate to see someone get hurt. But to think a seven year old using a black puck? It might be to heavy.
How long should the kids play for? I'd hate to see him have too much fun?
Do you suggest I give them words of encouragement after the games? Or leave that up to the park attendant?
Should I stay in the car or the warming house. I would hate for him to see I'm there to support him.
How long do you suggest that I take him out of organized hockey? Should I put him back into association hockey before 8th grade? Or is this too early?
Have you ever thought about writing a book? For someone with so much hockey knowledge. It's a must.
What is the record for the all time non-organized hockey goal scoring record? If I put my son in the 6-7 year olds he might break the single season non-organized hockey goal scoring record.
Thanks for all the insight. I'm not sure how I can repay you.
