#1. Roseau Rams. I don't know how anyone could pick anyone different.
#2. Edina
#3-10. H-M, then a bunch of city slickers. I don't see too many northern teams making a lot of noise this upcoming season. We'll see though.

Best player in the state = Aaron Ness.

Denfeld has 3 players in elite league... does anyone think they're going to be good?

I'd say this would be pretty close to my list as well, it's the only one that I saw that included Tonka..no sense in repeating it

hockeyfan95, if you haven't figured out, AA is all anyone cares about on here.

With the loss of key players, St Thomas probably won't crack the top 10, Hermantown and Hibbing will be good like always but Hermantown doesn't play AA teams so they aren't comparable. Marshall will probably be quite good. Warroad and Thief River Falls should be good. Little Falls would if their top players stay. After taking the Stars to OT last year New Prague should be good.

They still have solid defensemen in Rendle, Kosak, and Bishop, also good forwards that move the puck well, Palkki, Roy, Sparren. Don't forget Grand Rapids has one of the best (arguable top 5) coaching staffs.

They also have a few youngsters moving up that could help out the team.

I wouldn't count GR out of the loop just yet...

ur an idiot flatontheice... how can you say burnsville wont be good? they were better than EP last year and have there whole team back, burnsville lost there goalie but so did ep.. ep also lost by far there best player and as far as im concerned burnsville still has one of the best if not the best line in the state coming back

If you're going to say they have their whole team back then say they don't have the one player on their team that got them to state that takes away from what you're saying quite considerably.

Here are few teams that will most likely make noise next season.

Roseau
Edina
Hill-Murray
Centennial
Burnsville
Anoka
Holy Angels
Moorhead

Johnson stood on his head, but Tyler Barnes was equally as responsible for them getting through Section 5, and he's returning.

I don't know anything about either of their younger goalies they'll be using this season, but the fact that Barnes is returning makes them a favorite in my book.

Just curious, but Edina was one of the best teams in the state of MN last year. They got a year older, didn't lose much, only 5 seniors, and got Anders Lee. Who do they have on their schedule that they could realistically lose to before sections?

You're right, that's very possible. They could go the regular season undefeated. The thread was going all year and winning state undefeated. I don't think that will happen, but at the same time, it's a very good team, so i'm not going to say it can't happen.

Probably some Roseau, Edina and other folks that would argue your top line assertion.

Goalie is the most important position on a team........correct? Not only that Burnsville lost their best D to graduation. Shut down their top line and you shut down Burnsville. That will be the coaching strategy of every coach that goes up against them.

They've got to deal with Cloquet, East, Centennial. They'll have to play Wayzata twice, and I think they could surprise a few people this year... remember that they beat the Hornets last year and still have one of the best goalies in the metro.

With that being said, I think whoever goes up against Edina better pack a lunch, because they'll be among the top 2 or 3 in the state all year long.
