Which current MN HS hockey player is more now?
1) Mike Lee (Roseau)
4) Nick Leddy (Eden Prairie)

I don't know how you can make more noise than Lee has. Look at his #'s from last year. Go check out Bobcat's site, www.roseauramshockey.com. I'm sure Nick Leddy is a good player, but Mike Lee is now! State champ as a soph. Sure, he's not a pretty boy from EP, but the kid is a great goaltender. I doubt Lee gets press in cakeaterville, but he's a northern boy, so why would he? So, just because Leddy is a popular kid in EP, he should be voted in on this? People are smarter than that. People appreciate championships and team play, not a one man band that's popular with the ladies.NewFoundDangle99 wrote:sexytimeisnice I really have to agree with you. I mean Lee is very good in all but this is the whos now overall process. Leddy made the national team or whatever and has really come on strong in the peoples eye. That is what this whole thing is about, yes u have to be very good but u need o be popular and be seen and heard about by the public. some people need to think. I think leddy is getting kind of screwed on this one.
Looks like you are correct.ACTUALFORMERPLAYER wrote:Looks like the voters prefer championships to teams picked by experts.
You make a few good points, but in the long run, Roseau won a state tournament with Mr. Lee tending their goal and Eden Prairie didn't even advance to state with Mr. Leddy manning their blue line.Pucknutz69 wrote:Now put down the teams he won against and the ones he had shutouts against. Sorry not hard for a goalie to pad the stats against soft competition. Not very hard for a goalie to only have to work for 1 game of the year.
He saw an average of 7.8 shots a period, 23 a game.
And to be fair Mr Leddy isn't exactly playing with St Paul Humbolt. He has a solid supporting cast at EP also. Lets see what Mr Leddy does in the future.
I heard hockey referred to as a "team game". Besides Keith Ballard (somewhat exagerated, but not entirely), I cannot remember a D being out there for an entire high school hockey game. Maybe young Leddy has an iron lung.boblee wrote:You make a few good points, but in the long run, Roseau won a state tournament with Mr. Lee tending their goal and Eden Prairie didn't even advance to state with Mr. Leddy manning their blue line.Pucknutz69 wrote:Now put down the teams he won against and the ones he had shutouts against. I don't disagree with you. However, I can't tell you how many seniors he skated with. I am not sure that you know that either. Eden Prairie is typically a talented team. Therefore, I am confident he skated with talented players. Obviously, Vanek was one of them. Testimonial to his abilities was the contract he signed with the SabresPucknutz69 wrote:So what's your point Breakout? I don't recall saying Leddy skates the whole game, instead I refer to the fact he skates with some talented hockey players. He might not feel the full pressure of HS hockeyas a sophmore skating with 3rd year seniors. Lets see how they both do this year.
From what I have heard, Lucia didn't know about him until he was a junior.boblee wrote:Alex Goligoski would play almost every minute both his junior and senior years at Grand Rapids.
Not a stretch.breakout wrote:I am sure other G.R. people will back you up on the Goligoski point.
However, my point is: how would he get noticed by Lucia if he was out all of the time? He is an offensive D and I would imagine he was in high school as well. The offensive part takes a lot of energy. Not to mention the energy it takes in the D end of things. Keith Ballard would move from forward to D in Bantams. I am guessing he was a bit conservative on the D end until he got rested.
I can believe he played up to 60-70% of the game. Almost every minute of every game might be a stretch.
FYI... I think Pucknutz might have the Vaneks and Vraneks of the world mixed up. Daniel Vranek played for Eden Prairie last year. He was an exchange student. I think he's playing in the USHL this year, but he DID NOT sign a contract with the Sabres. Thomas Vanek played for the Buffalo Sabres after leaving the Gophers following his Sophomore season. He DID sign a lucrative contract with the Sabres.breakout Posted: 08 Aug 2007 21:00 Post subject:

I don't agree with Boblee's logic. My point is, no one player controls the game. It's a team event. Roseau had a better team all the way around vs. Eden Prairie last year. Very few people would argue that.
I wish both players well. Time will tell where they end up.
Good luck
That was me who did the Vanek/Vranek deal. Just a play on namesnickel slots wrote:FYI... I think Pucknutz might have the Vaneks and Vraneks of the world mixed up. I'll take your word for it. Certainly, Goligoski is a gamer.boblee wrote:Not a stretch.breakout wrote:I am sure other G.R. people will back you up on the Goligoski point.
