Hey I am new here. But I was wondering what you think the lake will bring this year? Obviously Burnsville will be good and I also think Eastview will be pretty good too. Other than that I think it is somewhat spread out I guess. Just curious to see what everyone else thinks

Eden Prairie, Rosemount and Jefferson will also be good.

do you think any of these teams could work they're way into the state tourny? In the lake I think it will be a race between chaska bloomington kennedy and apple valley to take home the last in the lake?? just my guess

Didn't this senior class from Rosemount win the State Bantaam Tournament a few years back? I'm not sure how many of those players may have opted for AAA or not, but I'd think Rosemount should be right at the top or near it in the Lake this year.

Eden Prairie= Dave Meyer aka Mr.Hockey. Gotta go with the eagles no doubt in my mind. Nick Leddy is ok too

Rosemounts team won the VFW state tourney. Have lost a few from that team to St. Thomas, but should be very solid. From what I've seen goaltending could be a issue. Should have 1 great line and 2 very solid lines. Depth at defense could also be a concern. They do have 5 players playing in the elite league, most of any Lake conference team.
EP will be very good in goal and on the blue line. May have trouble putting the puck in the net, but will be defending their conference championship.
Burnsville will be very solid. Returns all but 1 forward, 2defense, and their goaltender. Has one of the top lines in the state. Very solid defense. Goaltending could be a issue.
Those 3 should be battling for the conference title .
Eastview, Jefferson, outside possibities. The rest won't have a chance.

Looking at the section realignment, the team with the best chance at state is Lakville N.

overall the lake should be fairly evenly matched within the conference, but weaker than most years in regards to other conferences. i like E.P. or Roesmount to win the conference, but don't look for the Lake to make much noise at state.

Three horse race by Burnsville, Rosemount and Evil Prairie. Bloomington will be o.k., but will have a difficult time competing with the other three listed.
In my opinion, stop the first lines of Burnsville and Rosemount you will stop their teams. Evil Prairie may not have a true first line this year. At least they won't have a dominant line like last year. Keep in mind, they had Thomas Vanek on their team

He signed a big deal with Buffalo. Evil Prairie's D core may be the best in the conference. Bloomington will compete, but will only bring in one stud forward. Their D core should be decent.

RbkIi know you said you are new here, but where did you get the idea Kennedy would be good?
Breakout, what's the story behind Evil Prairie?

i dont think kennedy will be very good at all. I think that those teams will be close to LAST in the conference. Because I acually just talked to 2 kids from kennedy the other day and said they have to kids that have somewhat of potential and the rest are sophmores. I belive he said the 2 kids were Ryan Mcardle and Jordan gates I am not sure but no, I dont think they will be good. sorry for not making it very clear

I saw Kennedy a couple of times last year at the SSP tournament, and I think they only had something like 14 skaters and 1 goalie - who had played their JV game earlier. They looked like they were in pretty rough shape overall. It was kind of sad to see, because they did have some great years (including '91 when they bounced us out of the State Tourney).
Was there something going on that they were shorthanded for that SSP tourney or is their overall participation really down that much?

alot of my friends go to kennedy, and they dont get much participation. I do remeber when they had the one goalie. That was their JV goalie because the varsity goalie was hurt. I have seen the team skate this year they have some new decent kids but I don't know how they will be this year.

Is it possible they could combine the two Bloomington programs? I am guessing that numbers are down at Jefferson. Certainly, they are down on the Kennedy side. Maybe it would benefit both programs. Just a thought.

I am reading these posts and feel that most of this conference is pretty even. EP, Jefferson, Burnsville, Eastview all are pretty good teams. Rosemount always is given a good chance. About the only team that seems most likely to not win will be Kennedy.
One point I must make is that, people point out that this team wins the State VFW or this team won the Bantam state tourney. That does not usually mean you will do well in the high school level. There are lots of factors. I like Burnsville or Jefferson in the conference.

I personally think eastview will be one of the best teams in the lake. I think they will be better than EP. I think Burnsville and Eastview will be the top 2 in lake

I personally dont think Eastview will be top 2 but maybe top 4 or 5..i just dont see them competing with high powered offensive teams like Burnsville and Rosemount with o'shea(sp?) in net. Dont get me wrong I think they have a couple good players in Robert Maloney and Cory Finehage(sp?) but thats about it as far as very skilled players. I believe Burnsville and Rosemount with their top lines battling it out will be 1 and 2 in the lake.

What looks like each teams weakest spot?

Alot of people think Burnsville is going to be the team to beat. They have two solid lines with weak D and I dont know who there goilies will be. I dont know what what to think about Bloomington Jefferson they could be the sleeper thats if they are able to put some pucks in the net and they dont give to many goals up. The Other team is EP they will be solid like every year maybe loose 5 to 7 games but then come to the end of season something will happend..

Who looks like the top forward, Dman, and goalie in the lake this year?
Posted: Mon Sep 17, 2007 8:41 pm
by rbk24
top forward in the lake im not sure id look out for
Tommy Odonell
JT brown
Of course the top line or Burnsville (those 3)
I know your guys will hate me and am getting sick of this.. but I really am excited to see Ryan Mcardle and Jordan Gates. Just because my friends talk up a storm about them BUT THATS ME. But for sure watch for the others above!
On goaltending I would say Jake Swanson for jefferson is pretty solid!
