I heard Joe Rubbelke transfered from Harding to North St Paul. I see he is still playing Football for Harding so does that mean he can still play hockey for Johnson this year and then become eligible to play at North the following year. If this is the case here is the big loophole in the transfer rule.

If he us playing football for Harding, he would have to be attending Harding and therefore doubtful that he transferred to North St Paul. If he does transfer to NSP next year, he would either need to move or sit out.

Yeah, I don't know where he is, but that sounds very odd.

Although, if there is a loophole, I'm sure his old man would be able to find it... he's a smart & crafty guy.

I know his mother and she said he's at Harding, which plays hockey with Johnson.

I know the Harding kids (Rubbelke is the only one) play hockey at Johnson... I didn't know anything about him going to NSP though. All I know is that his dad is a hell of a baseball coach.

He "drafted" me at East Twins as a pitcher, but I didn't really want to pitch anymore when I got there. The first practice we had, we went through the whole introduction thing - your name, your school, what position you play, etc.

It comes around to me so I introduce myself as a 2nd baseman. Jim doesn't bat an eye - no pause at all - and immediately says "Bullsh*t. You're pitchin'. Who's next?"

I believe that if you transfer to a new school without the residency exemptions being employed, you can still play varsity sports at the "old" school while attending the "new" school. Then he would be eligible for varsity play next year at the "new" school. I don't know what grade he is in, bnut I'm pretty sure that is part of the new transfer rules.

This would be a loss if he did go play at NSP.

RL Stars is correct here - that is part of the new transfer policy.

I have spoken with Joe and he said that he is at NSP but is playing football for Harding and then playing hockey for Johnson again this winter.

I think this kid hit a really bad trifecta...football at Harding, hockey at Johnson, and school at NSP. Poor kid.

He played against the teammates he'll have for hockey last Sat. in Football.

What a great point - Play football at one, hockey at another and attend one totally different for school.

Ouch! that was a kick in the shins!!

Pretty sad when our first win came against a St. Paul City team. We blow them out & Johnson struggles with them? I guess the Govies coaches were pretty concerned as they sat and watched us blow out Central. Who knows, may the big bad Govies may see us in sections. You do remember last year, don't you? Govies #1 seed (St. Paul conference champs) lose to NSP #8 seed(Classic Surburban bottom feeder). Just be thankfull there are no more Catholic schools in the conference, you didn't seem to fare to well back then.

He is a sophomore this year.

Funny... you neglected to mention how HM lost to SSP but Johnson put them away without any trouble. But hey! If it helps your argument to say HM beat Central - who the Govs also beat - more power to you. I know it's not beyond you HM boys to deny the obvious (recruiting).

If Johnson gets HM in the section tourney, it'll probably be in the first round because Johnson will be a high seed and HM a low. Better pray for another upset like last year... and this time I'm not talking about HM vs. Rochester Century!

Well since this is a hockey forum, lets talk Govie hockey. How did you guys do last year...the year before...the decade before? Do the Johnson kids understand that high school hockey is played in March? How's the tough St. Paul city conference working out for ya? Got a big game with Como Park....every week? Like I tell others on here, beat Hill, then come on here & fire away. But what usually happens is supports of programs that actually beat Hill are far too classy to rip them. It's the supporters of other programs (see Johnson) that can't seem to beat the Pioneers, that climb on somebody else's bus to yell out the window at the Hill kids. Now granted, the bus with the Johnson kids is a short bus, but that's another issue.

See, you'll notice that I don't talk up Johnson hockey here to much - I'm a realist, I see things for what they truly are. I'm well aware that Johnson may never have a repeat of their heyday. Moves to suburbs, finances, and recruiting have probably gone too far to ever come back to Johnson's favor, but I know that, and I would encourage you to find any posts from me talking up Johnson hockey anywhere on this board. You won't. I'll do anything I can to help them out, but things are what they are for inner-city hockey.

You, on the other hand, seem to be a typical HM slug... Conveying a "holier than thou" attitude while still denying, deflecting, demeaning and running your mouth at a bunch of people who aren't interested in listening! Pathetic as usual.

Govie....here's a tissue for ya. You may be realistic about Johnson not being much, which is good. However, taking shots at Hill is the same as taking a "Holier than thou" approach. I am as proud to be a "HM slug" as you are to be a Govie. For a guy who doesn't seem to be interested in listening to a Pioneer "running his mouth", you seemed to have hopped on the hook and responded...
