I don't think it is wise to ignore the B team. There are always a few players who step up, put in the extra work and become contributors to the A team in subsequent years.

Guru,
Did you see the game? If so, how did each of the squads look?

LesHabs:
Glad to see you back on the bb1 board.
I'm sure the guru can provide a first-hand up close scouting reprt.
How about it guru? Where do you see Tonka this year?
How are they compared to last year?
What tournaments is Tonka in this year? Are they back at White Bear?
They were the surprise team at the Moose last year, with most people writing them off and asking "where's Centennial Red?"

Yes, I can't believe another season is upon us already. I'm expecting big things from the Tonka squad this year. I would assume that many of those kids are the same as the squad that was very successful a couple years ago as Peewees.
I am still awaiting word from the man himself (EagleGuy) to give this thread the street cred it richly deserves.
Scores from EP:
EP Black 3 WBL Black 1
EP Red 4 Blake 2
I believe the EP teams will swap opponents this weekend.
Welcome Back Kotter!

Hardly "the man", but I appreciate the warm welcome.
A big thanks to Guru#6 for getting us started. Have no fear, there are people who enjoy and care about B hockey as evidenced by: 1) the familiar faces already posting to this thread and 2) last year's Bantam B thread being the single biggest thread in the history of clean message boards!!
Tommy-Two-Cheeks, Blue-in-my-blood, Guru, the Fab-Hab'er . . . nice to have you all back.
Gotta start the kudos to puttinthefoilon-guy . . . predicting the state RUNNER-UP is priceless. You will be great fun to have around . . .especially since everyone will want to know who you will be runner-up to??
Me, I'm waiting for MNHockeyObserver to give the board his blessing. Wasn't around as much last year, but I am hoping for a comeback!
It was a sloppy start for both the Black squads, but nice to get off to absolutely nothing . . .it's a scrimmage . . .don't get too excited. And yes, EP Red gets WBL Black and EP Black visits the Bears of Blake . . .Hmm, Eagles and Eagles and Bears and Bears . . .how did that happen?

Eagle Guy,
Give us a little background on the EP teams. Are they split (1st year vs 2nd year) as they were last year?
Good luck this year!!
Red/Black

No older/younger this season in EP. Last year was a special group where I think that worked because they still were pretty balanced teams (which D6 requires). This year that wasn't the case. The Black team is exactly half and half and I think the Red team has a few more 1st years, but still pretty evenly split.
See ya 'round the rink!

Did anyone see the games between EP Black/WBL and EP Red/Blake? Scores aren't always the best indicator this early in the season and I want to know who to root for or against based on talent/coaching/dress code/themed costumes etc.
Mr. Cash, will you be enshrined in black from head to toe again this year?
Need to adjust my wardrobe accordingly.

Already have the black helmet to match my outfits when USA Hockey requires those on the bench. I'll try to throw in some navy blue to mix things up!! I'm Ccccrrrraaaaazzzzzyyyyy!

I will only be a quiet observer and reader since I have no horse in the race this year since we have moved up into the HS ranks.
But if you need me at a game to cause good fodder I could lease out my services on a per game basis.
Good Luck to all the teams but especially D6 and especially those that I have biases for

I could've used a shield in District Play last year...only 3 stitches and I looked mean on the bench with blood running off the cheek. Navy is out...royal blue is in. (Maybe convert all to Green and White)
You stay classy...

I can confirm a Navy Blue sighting on "the man in black" on Sunday. I will now retreat to my bunker and stockpile water and canned goods while i wait for the end of the world...

I see that Wayzata Gold beat Blaine 6-2. Anyone see the game? Is Wayzata's B1 "B" team that good or is Blaine down this year.
Any other scores to be posted. Scrimmage season should be well under way.
Something borrowed, something blue . . .

Blue attire, much like numbered pennies, old varsity jerseys and meaningless scrimmage losses to private schools are all just a part of the preseason. Get the mistakes out of the way early and be ready for go time. When the Eagles take on the Eagles on the 17th in Happy Valley, the black attack will be back from the rack.
(psst . . .in case anyone is wondering . . .Blake is good. Damn good. There a new frieght train run amok in D3!!)

Duluth East Red beat Superior, WI in controlled scrimmage 4-2.
Red team is all first year players with a little over half coming from the peeweeA team that took third in state last year.
Black team is all second year players.

Planes, trains and automobiles all lead to one place (new ulm right?) and none are accepting tickets until March, as noted before it's way too early to mean anything. Back in Black will be exciting and close to home, hmmmm, do they let the locals in the rink without EP allegiances?

Did anyone see the Tonka/Maple Grove tangle on Sunday? If so, how did it end up, how did the squads look?

Yes i saw the maple grove/ minnetonka game tonka won 3-1 im pretty sure. Both teams looked pretty good, tonka dominated most of the game though and just peppered the maple grove goalies
